Another article on how sausage is made.
This is a Ruger Standard model from 1954 . Almost 70 years old. I have a crapload of new takeoff mark 4 barrels that I use for various projects . This pre Mark model is getting one machinde for an integral suppressor. Some builders like to port the barrels. My opinion is that porting is something that was done in the 40's when decent baffles were not available. There is no need for it now. I prefer to keep the barrel length at 3 1/2"-4" and to stuff as many clipped radials as will fit in the tube. Keep the velocity up and improved accuracy dramatically . Standard and subsonic loads are available for max suppression,
Tube, end caps and adapter are done . I still need to machine the internal support/baffle stop. The early Ruger receivers are nice in that they are a true 1" OD and match up to the tubes perfectly and make for a very clean build. Plus the Mark I safety can be modified to act as a bolt catch and fire while the bolt is locked. Later Rugers went to a .980" receiver which works but not quite as well.
