BUIS......What do you like?

I use good old Magpul. I did not have an optic on my carbine for the longest time so I got pretty decent at shooting with the BUIS

Was messing with the MagPul Pro BUIS last week at Lawman's. Gotta say, they're pretty sweet...

I'm really down for just about any quality sight, but I want flip down rears at least...

Do you guys use them purely for back ups or do you spend time shooting with them? Something I've noticed is that my rear sight really makes my red dot crisp so I like using the sights for more precision at longer distances

Wahoo, I have the Magpul Pro Offset irons on my scoped "DMR" / "Jack Of All Trades" rifle. I do practice going from 4X over to irons and with a little practice it is as easy as a flip of the wrist. I have found that buddies who have trouble trying it are not shooting with both eyes open. My intent is to keep them as backup in case of optic failure but the SWFA SS1-4HD is tough as a hammer. I still like knowing I can transition quickly but honestly for most shooting i leave them down. Options are good....

I run Troy rear and recently got addicted to their fixed HK style front sight.

How do you like those?

I've been using a Vortex Strike Eagle (1x-6x) with the standard MBUS on a DD M4V4 (my mounts are quick release to allow back-and-forth use). As I wear progressive lens and am cross-eyed dominant, I liked the ability to focus the reticle to my prescription. That being said, I find the weight of the scope + mount to be incommodious. Also, with a recent addition of a JRA M14, the AR is even more truly a dedicated home defense platform for which the scope, I think, is superfluous at least as far as weight/mobility is concerned vis-a-vis the better sighting.

So, my question as part of this thread is whether folks have found fixed iron sights (e.g. the DD fixed pair) to be a significant (cost worthy) improvement over plastic MBUS - regardless of whether one is co-witnessing with a red dot?

I love them so far. Haven't done a lot of shooting with them yet other than get them sighted it. They are a back up to my MRO which I have in a lower 1/3 mount, and that combination works great for me. I also find them to be very light weight.

+3 or 4 for Magpul MBUS Pro. Feels sturdy and I dig the features.
