I have 2 buckets of byob federal hollowpoints .22LR ammo.

It's sucks!!
First time I've said that about federal ammo. It would shoot...then pfft....and I'd have to drop magazine and manually eject the spent round.

Did this with 22/45...and 10/22 TD.

Shooting suppressed shouldn't matter, should it?

So federal took notes from Rem Golden Bullets. That’s a shame to hear but thanks for sharing. If it won’t run in a 10/22, that’s a problem.

How dirty are your Chambers?

I'll admit the 22/45 is probably dirtier because it's such a pain in the butt to break down and clean...

but I haven't shot much at all with my 10/22 TD.

36 gr
1260 fps
That’s pretty much CCI HP MiniMags territory (CCI and Federal are sisters companies under parent company Vista Outdoors) … I’d expect it to cycle be it suppressed or unsuppressed.

ETA … Since the 1260fps is from a rifle length barrel I know they aren’t hitting that out of the pistols but have you fired these out of a rifle? If so do you get the sonic crack as it breaks the speed of sound? If not there may be a velocity issue and a chronograph would be nice if you have access.

Also..guys...forgot to tell yall..had quite a few rounds that had primer strikes that didn't discharge.
I had to load them in the chamber 1 at a time and fire them again.

I was getting this with my Ruger MKIII, it was filthy. The firing pin was dragging, and a carbon ring was keeping the rounds from fully seating.

I just saw Rem Golden bullets in WM for 8.5 cents/round. The CCI SV are 10 cents. There's no way I'd buy that Rem crap at that price.

Verify it has problems in a trusted semi-auto rifle (10/22 or such) and if it does it might be your pistols BUT if it doesn’t work properly then the ammo is definitely front and center. There have been quite a lot of reports of poor QC and materials in manufacturing … including ammunition … over the COVID years.

If it does point to ammo I’d complain to Federal they have a good reputation for making right on problematic lots of ammo. It don’t hurt to contact them … and if you can get a chronograph to report velocities even better.

Before I started hoarding .22lr years ago, I bought several bulk packs of Federal/Remington/Winchester. In my firearms I had much better luck with Federal by far, so that's what I hoarded.
I'm now shooting Federal that's at least 12 years old, stored in the original boxes, or in vacuum sealed bags. Can't remember ever having a dud out of the bunch and I probably won't live long enough to shoot all of it.
99.9% of it is fired through something made by Ruger, so I'm sure that has something to do with it. :)

I have had both a Mk II and a 10/22 balk with a variety of ammo when they get dirty. They run like champs when I clean them every year or two to get all the crud out of them. Clean them up, lube them properly, and then try again. It may not fix the problem but is worth a try. The worst thing that can happen is that you wind up with two clean firearms.
