C&E Show, Raleigh, June 19 & 20.

I'm guessing it is in the Jim Graham building, as the Expo building will be occupied by another group.

Should be the Jim Graham Building.

Is this show worth a 3 hour drive?

That is a hard one to answer. If you are a show junkie, then yes. If you are hoping to find something that makes it worth the drive, then probably not worth gambling.

There is always treasure to be found at a gun show but you usually have to do a lot of digging. These days the harder thing to find is a bargain. Most gun stuff will be available but you will have to pay the covid surcharge.

Show junkie is the correct term. Try to get to one every weekend but so far have limited to 1.5 hours from Charlotte. Can‘t hurt to try RDU once i guess.

This is the smaller of the two shows in Raleigh. The Dixie shows are larger and usually pack the building full, the C&E is about half to 2/3 the size of the Dixie show. I find that I don't like to spend more than 2 hours at a show. I can walk the whole C&E show, but can't cover the whole Dixie show.

I normally pick up all my hazmat reloading items (powder/primers) at the local shows, but I have not bought anything since COVID hit, and even before that when Cover Six and Blue Collar Reloading quit coming to the shows.

I missed the last show (Dixie) but I think I will hit this one.

I gave up on the C & E shows along time ago since the ones I went to were so bad. And if there was a three hour drive there's no way I'd waste the gas and time.

Half the building is empty

That is typical when the C&E show is in the Graham building. It is usually in the Expo Building, which it fills nicely. This show was booked under COVID rules, which required the show be in the Graham Building for social distancing - wider aisles and wider table spots for dealers.

I've been told that this show was an absolute bust. Pretty much every gun was $100-200 above MSRP, sometimes literally as much as double MSRP (not kidding). No reloading components, ammo is ridiculous (yeah I know that's the norm right now), and basically no good deals except reasonably-priced S&W M&P 2.0 handguns (which nobody has the mags for in stock anywhere) and Micro Roni kits (of which I'm personally not a fan). If that's true, then I'm glad I didn't bother going to this one and wasting my time.

You didn't miss anything. I bought some good overpriced jerky. Mags were priced stupid, as was ammo. I saw a couple good deals on firearms but no great deals, the rest were msrp and up.

I guess some folks didn’t come by our tables.

$11 PMags.

A number of shotguns priced at our wholesale cost

Ruger ARs below $700

S&W ARs below $700

Prices on almost all our guns were well below MSRP.

We have seen the handwriting on the wall for a couple months and have been moving to more “normal” pricing as inventory has become more available. Many manufacturers just increased prices across the board, so we are dealing with that as well.

We sold more guns this weekend than we ever have at a single show.

At some point I really have to figure out what booth you are at sir. I actually thought about you when we walked in.

No offense intended, I wasn't shopping AR's or Pmags.

Good on you sir for pricing like it should be vs. what you can get. It hasn't gone unnoticed.

The owner of a nearby LGS said about the same thing. While he is not yet to order quantities like pre-COVID/riot panic times he too is seeing it turn. He did however say that while overall pricing will drop he does not see it returning to Trump time level considering the current economy from raw materials to labor to distribution is up at least 10%-15% … or more and like most other consumer products. He does however think a good portion of those who panic bought or hoarded “just because” during the C-19/riot fiasco will be selling off stuff the because it is just sitting and they need to fill their tanks with $4 plus per gallon gas or such so he thinks used and consignment will become a nice chunk of his business.

No offense taken. I was feeling a bit sporty while waiting forever for my Wendy's order to be brought out. LOL Look for the Catawba Collectibles banner and you will have found us.

The last year has been a roller coaster and everyone has had to scramble for what inventory we can get, price it knowing there is no guarantee of getting anything to replace it, and no one knowing how much longer we will even be able to be in business. Now that certain inventory items are starting to show up more regularly, we can settle more into pricing that assumes we will be able to order replacement inventory from week to week. Who knows where it will go from here, though. I do agree with @NCFubar's post that I highly doubt we will see stuff returning to Trump glut levels. Inflation is going to take care of that.

I did figure if there was going to be one good table in the show, it'd be yours. :D That's not bad at all, and the source I got from the show definitely has his own biases that might impact what he did or didn't notice.
