Can the moderators name be added to

As a Mod....and only speaking for myself...No, I don't want y'all knowing when *I* am the one that pulls the plug, edits, whatever on a post. Most of the time these things are done after a couple Mods come to consensus and the one actually doing the work is 'just the messenger'.

We deal with enough whining as it is without members feeling some sort of personal insult is justified. Just post a general question for 'staff' to respond to.

How many times do we have to say "Don't post in ads, use PM/Conversation" ?
Now I understand why my post asking for actual pics of a rifle or shotgun was deleted as add clutter.

ps … so how many mods did it take to figure out you can’t ask for a price verification?
How many habitual BST posters does it take to change a lightbulb?

Once again, I am reminded of why I stay out of the BST threads and largely ignore them. They cause too much drama.

For the longest time, after having waded through several pages of said drama, the operational impression I received was that asking relevant questions and clarifications, especially those that would be of interest to the potential buyers were fine, fair, and sensible. For example, someone listed a travel trailer for sale in one of the rare ads I did read and I responded asking if they knew the vehicle weight, which was not part of the post. While I was curious for my own reasons, it was not because I had an interest in buying the trailer as I already have one, but that is the sort of information that is very important when considering a trailer and your ability to tow it. Putting that sort of question in a PM would be pointless. The same kind of thing can be said for asking for pictures of an item listed for sale. The benefit to the buyer pool is clear and this sort of thing shouldn't be relegated to PM only.

While I can see more of a case for suggesting someone correct their posting when they put $55,0000 which is an obvious typo, to me it still falls into the category of legitimate question.

As far as putting work load on the staff, I would recommend that if a BST poster finds a follow up comment questionable or offensive they flag it. If it is indeed an out of bounds comment, then take appropriate action but on the other hand if they're whining about ad stomping for something truly legitimate that their use of the BST section be terminated.

None, they all just stand around in a dark room bitching about what happened.

PM a question if you're interested in buying something, shut yer mouth if you ain't. Rocket surgery it isn't.

Why allow replies then?
So the person listing the item can bump it after the allotted time has passed, and add additional pictures/information. To my knowledge that is the only way to refresh a postings position. And this is a discussion forum with a BST section, not a BST forum with a discussion section, so no need to invest in deeper tech or capabilities when "just don't post" is simple enough.

I see that severe 6 hr rain storm and working outside today left you a bit on edge. Come on over I got brisket and some micro beers.

No this is a political forum with a BST section that has some gun discussions. 😁😁😁😉

I’m kinda on edge too. 🤓

Well come on. You’re welcome anytime. I bet you actually are on edge. There are no more models of S&W left to buy. What will you do?
Planning on building a collection of rare Hi Points. 🤓

Being a moderator reminds me of being in a hunting club once. The good ole boys all were in it for over a decade when I joined. They were all friends from Wilkes County except me. One night the guy who got me into the club told me I wasn’t on any committee so I was now the go to guy on disputes among members. Haha. Find a guy all can hate and keep your hands clean.

Exactly. I like bst that has reply locked out. I also like bst with a timer function that prevents premature bumpulation. Makes a smooth and predictable ad section

We don't need the drama of associating any specific moderator to any given action taken.

That path leads to the dark side, as far as I'm concerned.

The moderators can just drop my name if they want. Everybody can hate on me for whatever it is that gets their panties in a wad for all I care about such matters.

I'll just sit back sipping from my Chief's mug and smile at all the hate and discontent my name is causing.

I was kinda hoping they would put "cause DOC said so" 🤣🤣

I think some clarification needs to be made here…as the rule says:

2. Keep your posts in a BST ad relevant to that specific sale. Clarifying questions about the item are OK, but nobody cares if you wish you were closer, if you have one just like it, or that you wish the seller good luck with the sale.

There’s no rule that says you can’t ask a relevant question. Anything related to an offer/negotiation should be via PM.
