No tracer or AP. All rifle shots are on cardboard. FMJ stuff is fine as are steel cased stuff. Pistol FMJ, lead or even hollow points work if you wanna spend the extra for them.

We don't have any long enough shots with rifle to buy more expensive ammo either, the cheaper stuff works fine if your rifle likes it

Here's to hoping the rain stays away! Rain, cardboard and pasters don't mix!

Hope to see you there!

Looking like rain in the morning. Any word if this is going forward?

We are watching now for it. One future radar looks pretty wet and the other looks absolutely dry all morning. Local news says currently they "think" most of it will be in the afternoon. Should be making a final decision around 12:30 after the next news cycle comes up and we can see their futurecast as well for local weather. Very frustrating trying to figure out who is right and who is wrong. Weather.com shows 40-60% and thunderstorms all morning and futurecast for local news shows nothing. Who is right? We hate to cancel and then not have precip, but if it rains during the match much, you can't really do much to shoot with cardboard targets, pasters that won't stick when wet and paper scoring. Don't mind getting wet, but that stuff definitely doesn't like it. We'll post up if it cancels in an hour or so.

Dry cleaner bags over targets, purchased from a local shop, and shoot in the rain

All right, the verdict is in....the match is CANCELED for tomorrow. Between the storms/rain coming through this evening for setup time, difficulty in getting the rest of the items in place for setup and the rain/storms predicted tomorrow during the match, we are canceling the August match. Sorry all.

Would love to say we'd do that, but we tried that trick. It becomes very difficult to score and paste having to lift them for every single target, especially after a couple of squads have come through. It does nothing to keep the score sheets dry or the pasters people are carrying around as well (especially on the 2 stages we have with no cover). It really drags things out in our experience with using them and it's a long day as it is. Simpler to try another day. If we had all steel....maybe...but that's a tremendous amount of extra heavy work to do for setting up in the morning with just 2 of us.

There is nothing more miserable than slogging around in the rain, trying to paste targets under a dry cleaning bag and dropping mags in the mud. Been there and done that and not doing it again, ever.
