Canik tp9 sc

I have one, it's nice gun. holster support is absolutely terrible, I have one I took a chance on ebay with that isn't terrible for iwb. Still it is a great gun I carry with confidence, when carried.

How do you like running the red dot on it? Is it significantly less comfortable and how often do you have to clean it?

I love the Sig Romeo Zero on it, the optics base is notched for co-witness/optic failure so you can still utilize irons while having the dot zero'd for 'distance'

Cleaning the optic lense, I just check it any time I handle the gun. I'm not really a dirty person so it stays fairly clean. Cleaning the gun itself, I cleaned out the factory new goo when I got it, and applied lubricant from my cleaning kit. Since then I just run a patch through the barrel with CPL any time I shoot it, otherwise out of 6ish-hundred rounds I haven't deep cleaned it.

Just seemed like from wearing it alot dust or lint would be all over it after no time and I guess I was thinking it would make it a little less comfortable to wear but wasn't sure if I wanted to try it or not.

Personally, no noticeable difference carrying it with vs without the optic, I'm fairly used to carrying iwb with optics on different handguns, some larger frames like my beretta 92x with optic, it can be a bit much.

I've never had much issue with optics getting to dusty or lint covered, but a quick puff of air or can of compressed air would take care of it. I typically do a quick inspect on my handguns before and after carry, and sometimes just for fun when they've been sitting for too long lol.

Lol fair enough. Have you upgraded your sights to night sights?

No, and that's largely due to having the dot and it being co-witnessed to the top of my front sight. I have a few handguns with tritium sights that frequent the nightstand and selected for after dark ventures over the tp9sc. Personally, I am comfortable relying on a dot in low-no light, but I have a fair bit of experience with and do  train with them in the dark. However in my opinion, the reliability of tritium sights is superior to a dot.

All makes sense. Seems like there aren't enough options for tritium sights or holsters for these guns and that's the only thing I hate at the moment. I have an sfx with a vortex venom and really wanted a tlr1 light bearing holster in a chest configuration and can't find anything for it.

Depending on how much LARP you want in your training lol, consider a gi style molle adjustable holster on a plate carrier/chest rig. I run Defcon 5 holster at center mass on my plate carrier, it's been great from a USP45 with TRL4 to my 92x with Holosun and glock 20 with TRL1. As long as I've adjusted it properly for each specific gun, I can sprint around my backyard range set up and they've stayed In place until I break the retention strap(s) and draw.

Makes sense to me. Lots of setups to chose from I just dont want to by accessories for the gun and hit a dead end on a holster or something not working together so I'm trying to do research to see what I can make happen.

There are several really solid holster options for that pistol. Here’s just a couple examples.

Tulster OATH (the one I would choose)

Vedder

You won’t even notice a Red dot on a pistol, they don’t add any bulk that you’ll notice. I have a dot on just about every pistol I own and I’ll wipe the lens off my carry pistol every now and then just because, but it’s never really dirt.

I’d personally recommend saving your money on the night sights, they offer no real benefit.

Also, good choice on the Canik. I recently became a huge fan of them and bought my first one. My uncle just got the same one you did and seems to be very happy with it. I think Canik’s are highly underrated and priced really low right now to develop a following. Once people catch on to how great these guns are, the price is gonna jump IMHO.

I agree. I appreciate the links to the holsters I am going to check those out!!

I know this thread is over 2months ago, i used to carry my SC for over a year then gone micro 9 gx4 toro and haven't touch my canik since (probably going on 8 months)

Was it just because of size? And what is that optic you were running on there?
Yes basically because of the canik with it's ambi slide stop, so say a kydex holster must be mold with an odd channel bulging out on the holster side to accommodate the slide stop which i find very uncomfortable, now if it's in a leather holster then it's very comfortable but I'm just not a fan of leather for iwb. As for the optic on the tp9sc i have the riton mprd 2 from bereli on it, on the gx4 is a vector optic frenzy-s on it
