The Pat Garret/Billy The Kid gun auction reminded me I'd seen this coming up the other day.
It'll be interesting to see what the 1911 brings.


There is going to be ab auction for items from the Al Capone family including firearms.

That 1911 is interesting. Capone died in prison in 1947. Micro Gun Sight Co. was incorporated in 1947. I highly doubt those sights were on that gun when Capone owned it. Makes one wonder about the engraving and refinish, as well.

Also, the original serial number has been removed and a supposed C prefix serial number has been poorly restamped on the left side of the frame, and doesn’t look complete. Legality of said gun would be up to whatever ATF agent looked at it at any given time. Though, I’m sure that was all done prior to 1968, when doing so became a federal crime, the way the GCA is worded makes this gun tricky. Depends on whether they would count the restamped number as the legal serial number.
