Sorta off topic sorta not. I'm going to start running 'off property' and am trying to figure out how to carry some stuff with me. Phone, wallet and of course something else in the 15oz range.

I've tried 'running' fanny packs and belly bands, but everything seems to bounce around, twist, ride up or generally not stay put. Constantly adjusting is annoying and detracts from the run. Just stuffing things in pockets is even worse with it flopping around and potentially falling out.

What have you had good success with carrying crap while running?

The yoga pants with built in pockets are the best for running. They hold stuff tightly.
And by stuff I mean stuff.

I think the Keltec p32 is about my limit while running.

You mentioned weight, but what size?

@Slacker mentioned yoga pants, there are running tights and shorts with cell phone pockets. I have carried a gun in the pockets, but the phone doesn't budge.

Probably going with an LCP or P32 in this case. I hadn't thought about 'running tights' or yoga pants, but it could work if I put something over the top of them as to not make all my gay friends think I changed my mind about joining their team. Then I would have to carry a sig and get a tesla. Ugh.

With the running tights I usually wear the hoodie or a long sleeve running shirt that tends to be on the bag gear side so it's not as big a deal.

I wear these for shorts. Yeah, I used to bike, and when I did I wore bike shorts. But I do not like to wear bike shorts/tri shorts unless I am doing those things. These shorts are 2-in-1, have the lycra/spandex undershort with the pocket, and regular shorts over.

What holds the stuff in the pockets?

What holds the stuff in the pockets?

Regular pockets have zippers on the shorts, the material is tight and it holds the things in the pockets on the spandex. I've done flutter kicks and my phone has not come out of the pocket.

Do they have any that aren't tactical colors?

Also, I noticed they do not have UDT length option...

Also, if confronted, instead of using the lethal option,
consider this:
Turn and square yourself to the threat.
Smile and say "Finally!"
Pull down your pants/shorts and expose your giblets.
Run full-on at your attacker.

DO NOT USE FOR BEAR ATTACKS

Ok. What happens if your attacker smiles.

They have others…here’s a comparison:

This thread is hilarious…

For phone/wallet (or at least cash/CC) I like an arm band. They have fairly minimal ones, I run with a iPhone 12 Pro Max and it stays put so about anything should work.

15-ish oz I haven’t tested, I use a 4” folder inside my waistband at 3 o’clock. Normal shorts hold it in place, don’t even notice it’s there. About the only spot where things aren’t going to bounce a lot. You might get away with a holster there as well and tie the shorts tight but don’t see how that’s avoid printing.

If it’s still chasing you, you need a bigger gun! Jus sayin... All kidding aside, I used to run in West Charlotte over near the airport. To say it was rough in a huge under statement! All of the old abandoned houses that the airport had bought up, you never knew what you were getting into. I ran with a full-size M-9 Beretta, 2 extra mags, my dog tags, and phone. I had a very tight fitting nylon belt and hols combo and pulled a sweatshirt over it. It rode very well and was accessible pretty quickly. I didn’t really care about printing though.

I use an Alien Gear chest holster while riding my bike. I don't see why it wouldn't also work for running.

I use the Hill People Recon bag. It’s a hair too big, but allows me to comfortably carry my G27, spare mag, light, basic FA kit, and fixed blade while having space for keys, wallet, and cell.

Running around town - it’s obvious what I’m bucking around but I don’t care. However, I tend to trail run so it blends in with the activity a little better.

I still need to get the extra running strap, but the bouncing is manageable.

(Side note - I’ve been out on the trails when it’s late/gotten dark and also twisted ankles. For these reasons, I upped my preparedness to get back to my truck. )

When I trail run I just use a Camelback and throw all my shi* in it, but I don't carry a gun when I run (trail or otherwise).

I used to be a minimalist runner, but as I've gotten older I also like to run with more stuff including pepper spray, phone, Advil, water, Gu, etc. I have an Osprey pack that I like, probably similar to the Camelback.

ps. @Chuckman, I'm in Chapel Hill if you ever want to meet up for a trail run.

If I’m carrying, I’m running from nobody!😁

This is why I walk. Much easier to carry a gun or anything else you may need. Not quite the same cardio workout, but I’m getting old anyway.
