Excellent movie. It's one of those that I bump into while channel surfing once in a while and I always watch it again even though I've seen it in it's entirety several times.

Ok…included, not free. I pay for Prime, but I’d rarely pay another couple bucks for a movie. I pay for Netflix (and other services), but I don’t pay to rent individual shows/movies from any of them.
 
If you’re so inclined, check your local library. I believe HP Public Library has it on DVD. They have the downloadable audiobook too.
 
Have it on DVD, watched it less than a week ago.

Wilson, a democrat, managed to get the Israelis, Saudis, Egyptians, and Pakis to work together, all while convincing his committee to increase funding a thousand -fold.

With a little nudge from Avrakatos he was able to see what would happen if we didn't help them in the post-Soviet transition, which led to Taliban rule and prophetic to what went down over the last couple years.

If not for the cursing, I'd love to show the ending of the movie in my classes. Exactly what you said - he saw the writing on the walls, which we STILL havent figured out yet, it seems.
We spent millions and millions to fight an enemy, to pay someone to do our warring. Then, when they need to rebuild and re-establish themselves we just back out.
