Here we go again: https://chicago.cbslocal.com/2018/0...me-point-guns-at-9-year-old-boy-peter-mendez/

(Note, site is loaded with ads and other crap - recommend using an ad blocker on your browser). Alternative link, I found this story at the Captain's Journal: http://www.captainsjournal.com/2018/08/14/chicago-police-department-officers-raid-wrong-home/

Peter was 9 when the trauma began. It was dinner time when Chicago police busted his front door open, invading his family’s home. Peter was 9 when the trauma began. It was dinner time when Chicago police busted his front door open, invading his family’s home.

Peter’s dad Gilbert Mendez says his family did nothing wrong and what’s even worse the police had no right to even be there because they were raiding the wrong home and now the Mendez’s say police are trying to cover it up.

The CBS 2 investigators found officers from the 11th district used a search warrant filled with mistakes, even the judge’s printed name as required by police order is missing.

They continued to "search" for an hour and a half, terrorizing the family, even when they were notified of the correct location of the ones they were allegedly looking for.

You never let a serious crisis go to waste.
And what I mean by that it's an opportunity to do things you think you could not do before. -Rahm Emanuel

Brookline PD killed an elderly pastor raiding the wrong apartment over a decade ago. The pastor died from cardiac arrest at the shock. PD took no responsibility for their error or the death.
Happens a lot.
More than a few movies have this plot too. Raid wrong house, frame the guy to avoid a law suit.

Don't they send in a recon team in first? Someone to confirm the address, check for obstructions, dogs, security, etc.?
It's not like a pizza delivery.

What was that other one a few months ago where they were across the street from the correct address?

".....PD raids wrong home..............."

Happened to me in 1974. Search warrant was for apt 751-B, should have said 751-A which was the address of my pot smoking & dealing neighbor. Police entered ( no knock warrant ) while I was meeting with the preacher and my bride-to-be, made a mess & left before I got home. Copy of the warrant was on the dining room table. Pissed me off.

I was thinking of this on my way home last night. It occurred to me you can get a product called Door Armor that will cause a (decent strength steel) door to be unable to be broken open. Demonstrations even with a battering ram show it to be ineffective. You can put ballistic level 3M film on your windows (not rated for it per say but it will stop bullets and explosions from penetrating). You can do this for about $500 total. Those things alone would go along way to stopping them or at least slowing them down.

Sad that people need to protect their homes and themselves from thugs, even those who are supposed to be the “good” guys.

Links? ;)

Here’s one for the door armor: https://armorconcepts.com/ It should have demonstration videos. The film, I don’t have links for off hand but I did deal with a local provider / installer in a High Point. That should be easy enough to find as it’s a 3M product.

So, have you spent that $500 yet? You better hurry if you haven't. It could happen to you anytime.

The sad part of this is that the police and government will never take responsibility for there errors. The mistakes mean nothing to them, the local tax payers are the ones that pay, when they settle or lose in court.
