I posted in the wanted to buy section but I thought I'd plant a seed here too. I'm looking for a coop. Do you have one that you no longer want? I'm not interested in the pre-fab models from Tractor Supply or the like.

Early in 2020 decided I wanted chickens again. Couldn’t find anything decent that wasn’t a pile of money,,,so I built one
It is not hard to build one - I am by no means a master carpenter. If you decided to do this I would be glad to give you some pointers on what I learned along the way
I have a 4 ft X 4ft cube on posts that are 2ft off the ground (structure is a little over 6ft tall) having it on posts allow the chickens a cool shady spot to hang out in the summer. I then attached a 12 foot run of fence wire on a wood frame) total coop and run is 16ft long 4ft wide and 6ft or so high. I have a door in one end.
8 hens have done well in there for going on 3 years

Look up "hoop coops" using hog panels. We built one for our bantams (8x12), turned out nice and is very sturdy.

Thats pretty much what I did. 2x4 legs in an L, bolted to a 2x10 frame, plywood floor, wall pieces. All screwed together so that it can come apart if needed.

I've thought about just building my own but with all of the stuff that I currently have on my plate, a new work project is not an option and I wouldn't mind setting one up quick and easy.

If, IF I build another, I want it to be similar to the one in this video, although it wouldn't be nearly as overbuilt as theirs.

My favorite feature is no floor. Nothing to clean and nothing to rot and need replacing.

Skip to about 40s to see it.

Well, that was a lie.

I am building another, but it's just a downsized version of what I have now.

Once done, I'll relocate the birds, tear down the old one, then get back to downing trees.

Current state.

Old one.

If you have the ability to move it, a used childrens playhouse works great for a chicken coop, and looks nice too. I’ve bought two of them for my Mother in law; the last one was $500 and the first one was free.
