No doubt. Might also argue what we learned about their monitoring abilities is as significant especially since .mil would have hidden most sensitive stuff. And we probably have a decent idea what they were looking at…

No kidding. I'm still waiting for pictures too. As a meteorologist I know there is a lot of balloon based stratospheric research done, especially in the polar regions so I'm wondering if they're paying more attention now to some wayward ones. I interviewed with this NSF outfit 15 years ago but med issues prevented the hire due to going to Antartica https://www.csbf.nasa.gov/

I had heard, at one time, he had some kidney issues, likely died years ago.

No mystery at all. They advertise the payload heavily…..
