Good question... Maybe we went up and plugged in/hung a a fake picture in front of its camera, like the thieves do in all the safe deposit heist movies 😂

And we have balloons too, but it seems like maybe they are used to spy on us as much as anyone else? I haven't watched Monkey Werx in a while.

I have wondered about this too... How do these balloons maintain their position? Maybe they change altitude to use different wind directions?

What you posted, HBAL617 is not the chinese balloon this is a spin off of Project Loon. Project Loon was an attempt to bring internet to rural areas via high altitude stratospheric balloons that float internet repeaters, but the Starlink constellation of sats in low earth orbit pretty much shut that program down. The makers of the balloons have moved on and now support mainly scientific studies and they carry the HBAL### naming on flight tracking sites. We've had multiple balloons cross the US and several in NC as well. A year or two ago there were two aloft at the same time that could be seen by the naked eye from my house. There's a post here on the site about it with some photos I took through a spotting scope.

Wouldn't the chicom have satellites spying all over the world? With this balloon, they are probably poking the US to elicit a reaction.
 
If this Balloon is a foreign gov't how does it compare legally & morally to our own SR-71 flights?

The balloon is well above commercial air traffic at 62,000 feet but not as high as a SR-71 at 85,000 but what would the real difference be?
 
There must be a reason for concern for not shooting it down. We don’t just let object float in our air space. Very odd.

They said on the news that this has happened before, under several US administrations, but "will not be tolerated".

We probably called China about it and they said there's a Chinese guy in it... so we can't shoot it down.
 
It has Biden secrets in it, so that if it gets shot down over a red state and anyone outside the government finds it...
