Chinese spy ballon over us

What, you don't keep an eye on the Montana forecast too?!

LOL, brother, I barely keep an eye on OUR forecast.

Seriously, I so ticked about this, the apathy and naval-gazing, the "oh, well, these things happen...." I know, I know, China-Biden-inept administration, but for eff's sake, when did this become OK??

Haha, right?

Honestly, this is so absurd that we (e.g. space force, air force, and a few TLAs) simply must be intentionally letting it play out. For what reason, I have no idea... and we are led to trust that our defenders have determined it is not a direct threat. Perhaps we have found a way to use its presence to our advantage, or to gather knowledge of the system/tech, though we'd probably find it's heavily based on our own tech 😂.

I would trust your opinion far over mine as to whether my trust is misplaced.

Seems like a good opportunity to test some of those new high powered laser weapons. Is the 747 mounted one still operable?

You know, if they actually existed. Which of course as far as you are concerned they don't.

The makers of the balloons have moved on and now support mainly scientific studies and they carry the HBAL### naming on flight tracking sites.

I would say thats an understatement.

I would think this is old news in some circles but I'll throw it out anyway.
So....
If you'll go to https://aerostar.com/ it doesn't take long to get a handle on them. They've got alot going on. If you dig just a little it gets very interesting.
From the homepage go to products, click stratospheric balloons and airships, on that page scroll down to the video.
Its 4:23 long. To me, the fact that you see that particular info in that video is very telling about what they're selling.
From army-technology.com:
An article from 11/23/21 about Raven Aerostar winning a DoD contract to show off their wares. https://www.army-technology.com/news/raven-aerostar-dod-contract-stratospheric-balloon-utilities/

I know I know, there's oodles and gobs of military contractors.

https://www.thedrive.com/the-war-zo...high-altitude-balloon-off-the-coast-of-hawaii
From 2/18/22, an interesting/odd article about F-22's being scrambled to intercept a balloon off the coast of Hawaii.
Raven Aerostar was also operating in that area according to the article.

Also on the Aerostar site, under news, https://aerostar.com/news/tcom-holdings-announces-acquisition-of-aerostar
An article from 7/29/22 announcing acquisition of Aerostar from Raven Industries by Tcom Holdings, parent of TCOM, LP.
If you ease on over to https://tcomlp.com/
well I guess by now you're getting the picture.
I'm gonna get on the 'puter so I can post the links.

Tin foil Friday anyone??

I'm just goin on about this folks. Didn't have much else to do this morning.
I've been called out before about parroting unverified info and I certainly stay out of the "I heard" convos. And not trying to start one. This is just stuff I found. You do you.

Who knows who the dern thing belongs to or what it's up to??

so they still are in Elizabeth City.
back in the day, there were some
really big balloons built there.

Given the location of this thread I can't use the language I would like. So I will say, I disapprove of our spineless, impotent military leaders' advice, knowing it is a spy satellite, and recommending....nothing.

Why was it even allowed to get over land? If it wasn’t detected till someone went eyeballs on then I think we have a really big issue. If we saw it on radar before it got here how come no intercept ? Shoot it down over the ocean.
over land maybe they want it shot down to unleash something. If we don’t shoot it down it may unleash something anyways. Either way and we look even weaker to China. That goes for past administrations who eat this happen too.

its just a chinese guy gonna set a world record jump from 80000 feet into a bowl of jello at least thats what my great aunt in ohio said

hey why can i pm any sellers

I’m no expert on the military or killing things in general, but when your priorities become diversity, degenerate rights and lowering standards it seems only a matter of time before you become incapable of fulfilling your basic duties. It happens in the corporate world and in any organization.

Bet Vlad is just terrified of us now huh?

Thought you got the memo?

This is what I feel is the most important question at this point, vs not wondering what to do now. How did we get to this point where it is over the US? NORAD had to have been tracking this thing for days as it likely took close to a week to get this far. As you said, if we didn't see it then someone is in deep crap since we have the ability to track very small objects in orbit with our radars. We do have aircraft that can fly to that high, F-15, F-22, U-2, WSR-57 (NASA owns 3 down in Houston that are outfitted with long range cameras to be used during Space X launches. One last few a few days ago). We don't know whether or not they scrambled? Did they scramble, check it out, and then keep it quiet? Was the intel gathered enough to determine the threat and allow it to continue? There are other questions and I doubt we'll ever know as I hope some of these questions regarding the interrogation of the craft remain OPSEC to avoid letting them know what we can do.

Possible testing platform for an EMP device? Which air to air missile would be best to destroy the balloon?

Just a birds eye view for the chinese police stations they are going to build.

He added: “Once the balloon was detected, the U.S. government acted immediately to protect against the collection of sensitive information.”

The article says something similar again closer to the end. I hope we lased and EMPed the crap out of it to burn out its cameras and sensors.

“I’m not going to go into the exact dimensions [of it]. We did assess that it was large enough to cause damage from the debris field if we downed it over an area. We had been looking at whether there was an option yesterday over some sparsely populated areas in Montana, but we just couldn’t buy down the risk enough to feel comfortable recommending shooting it down,” they said.

I'm sure the 38 people in Montana who live in the 147,000 square miles of land outside the half dozen towns of any size wouldn't sweat the risk.

Interesting..... a smart feller in our backyard wrote an Intel Brief for a former SOH in 1995. Later on, that Speaker ran for President and gave us the biggest threat to our country at that time that made people scoff and laugh.

The feller wrote a book about it that many of us know. Interesting enough.... today it passed the Geographic Center of the United States and the Pentagon Press Briefing acknowledged that the balloon had the capacity for maneuvering.

It only takes a second.... The Second After, it's a whole new ballgame.

Imagine if Trump was still in office... I can just see the base Commander at Bagram answering the phone right now.

"Yes sir..... I understand sir.... I admit that it is puzzling sir, but you are the President..... Thank you sir. Goodbye"
Commander picks up his phone to his aide.
"Johnson, please get a FAC to launch the biggest weather balloon we have on base and tie a few solar panels underneath with a foot locker with an American Flag"
"
Sir?.... Did you say....."
"Damn it Johnson! I need this done Rikki-Tik. That was our Commander-in-Chief and he gave me a Direct Order!"

This is the screen as of a few minutes ago. With commercial traffic removed.
This is US military aircraft.
I already know I can't see all military aircraft, for example, when Seymour is doing laps over us they don't show,
But the balloon is there plain as day.

I don't know if the HBAL617 is a flight number or balloon number but its been used before.Screenshot_20230203-081444_Chrome.jpg

I think answers to some of your questions are in this article. https://www.kulr8.com/news/billings...cle_cb4d11b6-a328-11ed-83cb-fbf1388f61fe.html

Sweat it? Heck, they'd help!

HEY!!!!!
HEY!!!! DANG!!!!! It's FRIDAY...

AND CFF Needs to have an emergency air raid muster and construct any means to protect our Air Space!!!! + If we do shoot it down, finders-keepers on all the intel, equipment and the fancy balloon.

I guess they’ll take it down after it’s through dispersing it’s payload of biological droplets on a town near you.

This news came out. Giant provocation by China against Taiwan.

It just so happens that the same day, we get this report about a giant, slow moving balloon hundreds of miles inland in the US.
High enough, and large enough, that our radar's should probably have been tracking this for weeks, hundreds of miles before it entered US Airspace.

Something like this would be a giant diplomatic provocation, kinda like when we conduct naval drills between China and Taiwan after China does egregious things.

It's almost as if this was already known about, and leaked to the media in response to the Taiwan thing...

It would be nearly impossible for us to look any weaker right now.

Don't jinx us....

Great! Blinken is holding a Press Conference on canceling his trip to China. SOB actually gave more facts about the damn balloon than any of the Pentagon pressers.... Sheesh this guy really is the most dangerous man John McCain knew.
