Maybe someone else was surprised, I'm not. The press will twist and turn and lie until they get the response their after. There is no level that they won't sink to in order the achieve their goal.
If Congress wants to do something constructive they would pass a law that punishes the press (network AND reporter) when total falsehoods like this are discovered.
