No more problem, no need to read the below or do anything unless you're just curious. Can't delete threads anymore - hmmm. Mods pls delete if you feel like it.

For the curious once I got it back together it worked. I think the spring had just fallen off the latch because I probably lifted it up too far last time I had it apart. Now that it's back together the latch won't travel far enough for it to fall off, as designed.

I took my CMR-30 out to give it some exercise this weekend and the stock would not lock into place. The spring that keeps the latch up in place is either bent or broken. I must have screwed it up somehow when I last cleaned it. It just requires removing the lower, so just the takedown pin and you're there.

I can bend the spring end up onto the shoulder of the latch which I assume is where it goes:

but when I pull the latch out it falls off:

It's either too short or the bend to the right is making it too short (there's a joke in there somewhere).

So if someone with a CMR would so kind as to look at theirs and tell me if the straight end of my spring looks too short or do I just need to take it out and bend the end back straight. I hate to screw with springs so I'm asking to see if I just need to go ahead and order one so I don't have to do it twice.

It certainly seems like it's too short, but the parts diagram shows one end not much longer than the other, sort of the way it is now. The spring is on the right in the diagram.

Thanks.
