I thought I would weigh in with my opinion on some different brands of Cold Blue.

I am not a gunsmith. At times, I've found that I need a gunsmith. And at times to fix my mess's! I only work with my own stuff.

I have used different brands of cold blue over the years! My preferences are:
1) Birchwood Casey Super Blue.
2) Brownells Oxpho-Blue.
3) Van's Instant Gun Blue.

The Super Blue is available about everywhere where firearms are sold. No shipping. A 3 ounce bottle will do a lot of bluing. It won't cost you an arm and a leg. I always, always keep some on hand.
The Oxpho-Blue has to be ordered. It's a bit pricey and shipping charges add to it's expensive. But it works! I still have more than half of an 8 ounce bottle. Had it for years and years. I probably will never use it up.
The Van's has to be ordered. I've not seen it on shelves anywhere. Less expensive than Oxpho-Blue. It works too. I wish I had purchased a smaller bottle!

Brownells has several other cold blues. Birchwood Casey also has Perma Blue, and various cold blues in paste form. Then there's Blue Wonder, etc.

In short, if you need to touch something up, just get yourself a 3 ounce bottle of Super Blue.
