Colt 9mm?

Don't have one, shot an SBR one and absolutely loved it. Sure you can do the same thing for less with a Glock mag build but there's some serious old school cool in that format.

Carry handle is a must, it just makes the thing.

Had a frankengun one that used Colt mags. I recommend the MagLula for the mags. Full mags can be a bear to load on a closed bolt and if you drop loaded mags (tac loads at matches) they tend to spit bullets everywhere. LOL.

Fun gun and a classic look.

Spikes makes a 9mm Colt SMG lower or you can go with a block and as mentioned above Metalform mags are mags to use. get the Colt SMG maglula loader. There is a 9mm AR thread around here somewhere. I have one with a block and one with the spikes lower and I like the spikes better though its not the look of the original Colt

I have two AR-9s that use Colt-pattern mags. Haven’t had any issues with Metalform, PSA (MF), or ASC mags.

One is a standard lower with a Hahn dedicated adapter.

The other is a CMMG Colt-mag lower.

I like the Colt-mag look much better than the Glock mag…although I do have a Glock-mag AR-45.

I had the opportunity to shoot a Colt DEA 9mm submachine gun back around 1994. It impressed me with how controllable it was and the comfort. It and the MP5 platform are my 2 favorite 9mm shoulder fired weapons.

The 9mm PCC is basically a SA version of the DEA 9.

Thanks for all the input. I'm thinking about snagging an actual Colt 6951. I know it seems Colt's QC has been a little hit or miss lately but I'm debating rolling the dice on one.

6951 is fine and runs 100%, at least mine is. I like it so much that I made up an SBR using a Wilson 11.5” barrel and a mag adapter. No problems with either, The sub machine gun mags, you definitely want the Maglula loader. Sort of like shooting a Rimfire with increased knockdown power😜

So while we are on the subject I bought a used Colt 2 piece 9mm magazine block adapter before I decided to go with the one piece. I’d really like to have the pinned lower receiver look but I couldn’t find anyone to install the used blocks. Anyway if anyone is interested $150 shipped CONUS via USPS.IMG_0046.jpeg

I was issued one back in the mid to late 90s. The only negative I have was the original Colt magazines. The quickest way to unload the magazine was to drop it. Turn into a bullet fountain lol.

They are very controllable. It was very easy to flip the giggle switch and do a mag dump keeping all 30 rounds inside a 3” circle. I probably couldn’t do it now that I’m old and falling apart lol.

Magazines are inexpensive, unless they're Colt marked.......
When I was buying them that was all that was available that function.
They were pricey but worked everything and good.
Think I ended up with 25 of them then later on got some uzi converts and other aftermarket.
But that was 92 to 95 range time-frame

This isn't a dig as times change. The last 25 I bought cost just under $30 per mag for Metalforms from gunmagwarehouse. I've been down the mag mod route with my mod'd grease gun mags for my ar-45 and unless your retired and have 30-45 minutes per mag to disassemble, mark up, machine, clean (blow out all the shavings etc), relube/protect (I cook them in paste wax) its not worth it when the base price is $9-14 per for an uzi to cut the notch in.

Anyone have experience or own one of these boogers?

I'm thinking it would be a lot of fun with a carry handle. I know it's overpriced because "Colt". I know the mags aren't cheap and some of them suck.

I have an A-1 I purchased new in ‘88 (or ‘89); and I will say, as much fun as it is, I have since purchased a bunch of other pcc’s with rails cuz, as neat as the fixed carry handle (and A1 front sight) is, well, more options with regard to sights and optics is always nicer. Was just reminded of that when we had it out 2 weekends ago and I tried mounting a dot sight on it using an adaptor that turns the fixed carry handle into a picatinny rail: FAIL. Every shooter that tried it wound up having to hold their head up so high there was zero consistency as far as using one’s jaw (or chin) for any “stock weld.” (Luckily everything else pcc has railed flat tops: Rock River AR in .40 cal, SIG MPX, JP-5 Steel Challenge, CZ Scorpions and several SUb2000’s which I know aren’t even in same category …)

Also, and as Mr. Gadget mentions in #2 post; my bolt catch broke in the middle of a week long school out in the middle of nowhere but, lucky for me, there was a Guard member there who was also a 3-gun competitor who happened(s?) to travel with a near complete armory all stuffed into his personal van … I will forever owe that guy!

I see brand new (no carry handle) AR6951’s can be had for a hair over $1,000 before shipping tax and any transfer fee (so, say, all in for under $1,100?) which is a pleasant surprise as I seem to recall some real crazy, beyond crazy times in the past with regard to both availability and prices. (Probably see those times again, no doubt.)

I REALLY remember clearly a time when Colt emblemed stick mags were getting obscene prices and I am glad there are a lot of alternatives available (again, at this moment, also subject to change no doubt). I had mine out 2 weeks ago and am happy to report all the “other” new production mags (bought from CDNN in 2020-22) we tried that range session performed flawlessly; Pro Mag but a real nice surprise was the 20-rdrs that came in DuraMag zip locks were all stamped marked “C Products“ with Orange followers that run slicker’n than you-know-what through a goose …

ETA: I see they have only 10- and 32- rdrs in stock at present: https://www.cdnnsports.com/magazines.html?brand=AR&caliber=9MM

I recently spoke w a friend who was considering spending $3,000 on a new “GI” M-1 Carbine built by a renowned armory but who, after confronting ammo availability wisely (imo) opted to put that $ toward a JP-5 …

I am so impressed with the JP-5 if I were to get another pcc in 9mm, well, a second JP-5 would be it!
