With all the talk about gun control and 10 round magazine limits. I might just go back to carrying my 1911 in 10mm, nice gun and keeps me under the 10 round limit. Back in the 90's and early 2000's, I carry a 10mm 1911.

All kinds of guns have their places. My Beretta 96 is just a freaking joy to shoot. I can drive tacks with it. But it's cumbersome to carry.

My M&P Shield isn't nearly as fun to shoot. But it carries nicely. No gun is any good if you don't carry it around with you. So it's a compromise.

Mag capacity regs have come and gone. They're pretty hard to enforce. I don't know many officers who want to walk around asking peaceful people with sidearms safely in the holster to to whip them out and show their mags. A peaceful person with a gun IN THE HOLSTER is awesome to have around. ANYONE drawing a firearm when it's not needed is dangerous and asking for trouble.... even the most trained and law-abiding person. The safest place for the gun is tucked away (unless there's a bad guy around). Law enforcement knows that.

Short version: New regs are about making it harder to ACQUIRE high-cap mags. Enforcing the ones already in the field is simply impossible.

I will not change my daily carry over a magazine limit. If I ever have to shoot someone, and the cops find out that I have a double stack magazine, then that is the least of my concerns. I just shot someone. And the only reason Ill ever shoot someone is to defend my life, or the lives of my loved ones. And my life and theirs is worth far more than getting in trouble for having too many bullets and making liberals sad.

Depending on how they word the next ban, it could be a long time in prison, even with a good shoot. There are a bunch of blue counties in NC.

Exactly, I’ll worry about my life first and then I’ll deal with the cops

I used to carry a 7 shot 357 . In light of the COVID / civil unrest I swapped to a XD9 with 17 rounds capacity and one spare mag . Lord willing I’ll never have to use it but I reckon I won’t be under gunned .

So? Beats dying or even worse, seeing a loved one killed because I compromised from a platform I am proficient in to one that better fits the desires of the left.

Never left.

I preemptively sold all my hi cap guns during this seller's market. Y'all didn't see them here cause I didn't want to get roasted for selling 25k round or more guns as LNIB for more than new prices.

Now I'm relegated to a few of these 8 rounders. Shame bullets are harmless in quantities under ten, guess that's why the government kept 'em in service so long, the more useless a thing is the more they love it. Oh well make a better hammer in a pinch than them plastic ones anyway.

Nope.

Seriously, though.....
I’ve carried 1911’s and shields/43’s/LCP’s for most of the last 10 years. My double stack guns are pretty much range toys...

But yeah, come and take them.....

IF, and that's a big IF I move away from my P229, I'll CCW my P220 SAO Compact with 8 rounds of 45ACP hollow point goodness (and a spare 10 rounder).

Let’s hear from all the guys who prevailed in a citizen self-defense street gunfight where they won only after the 11th round, but the first ten didn’t take care of the situation.

I’ll wait.
Irrelevant.
Shall not be infringed.

OOOH, I could try again with the 1911 in .45acp, I guess.....yum.

I’ve been carrying either eight round or ten round mags the past several years. In fact, I only have one handgun with higher capacity than ten rounds.
I just realized the Beretta 92s is the only one I have that carries over 10 rounds....dang!

(The 15-rounder for the G48 is still on order.)

I’d like to try carrying a BHP, but that itty bitty safety is just too itty bitty. Maybe gunbelt can whip me up a double shoulder rig for the 1911s, I’m better with my left hand than I am reloading anyway.

I carry 15+1 on me and sometimes I'll even pocket a spare magazine. The logic is the same as carrying a handgun in the first place -- better to have the ammo and not need it than need the ammo and not have it.

I don’t think you’re actually interested in a debate or open to having your mind changed. You have formulated an opinion and are convinced you’re “right”. The use of smug, argumentative compositional structure is a clear demonstration of this. That’s fine, some folks just like the fight, I get it.

^^^This first and foremost. Thank you draco88 and welcome home^^^

90% of the time, self defense shootings happen at 21 feet or less.
20% hit ratio from law enforcement - most folks will likely be at that percentage or lower.
50% of the time, there are at least two attackers - this percentage goes up for home invasions which are on the rise and increasingly perpetrated by two or more people.
Crooks don’t follow the law by definition, they won’t follow mag limits either.

That all adds up to the law abiding public being put at a potentially fatal disadvantage under magazine restrictions. The data and rational arguments against magazine capacity restrictions are out there, I just don’t think you’re interested in them. Sounds like -

“I don’t think you need more than ten rounds. Either you’re going to be able to get your gun and hit somebody with it quickly enough or it’s impossible.....So I don’t buy–I think that if you have a five shot revolver is as good as a defensive weapon, if you’re a good shot.”

I may only need one, but ima still carry as many as I can. No one has ever said “The gunfight was going ok, but I just had too much ammo on me.”

And it isn’t all about capacity, it is about platform. I carry, practice, and am comfortable with my P07. It is what I am most confident in. Should I be forced to fight with a gun, it is the one I feel I would have the best chance of winning with.

I am patiently awaiting my CZ 65 Single Stack. ☹️

I’m gonna run my wee single stack G43 in the match tomorrow, but in CCP division so I can run my 8 round mags, exactly how I carry it, and from the leather pancake.

Only thing different is I won’t be running defense ammo.

Wee? A G48 is wee?

Well said!

To be clear, I have nothing against single stack guns - I own several and carry them, mags that hold less than 10 rounds - got those too. Revolvers? Check. Own what you want. Carry what you want. Carry as many as you want. Make YOUR OWN decisions. But the attitude that, “there’s no proof that 11 rounds is better than 10 so it’s ok if .gov restricts mag capacity“ is how we end up here:

I carry a Shield 9mm quite a bit but I have started carrying my PCR more often because I shoot it better and it has 14 and 18 round mags. I rarely carry an extra mag on me but always have extras in the car.
