Everyone in here knows that I love Doug Casey and quote him frequently. He is ALWAYS worth reading, and has some insights that are very very good.

There are two methods of dealing with collapse, slog through it or run away from it. The latter requires financial resources most of us don't have, so we just dismiss wealth investors like Casey and focus on the latest "last stand against the zombie hordes" stuff and hope we have enough friends, food and firepower to last it out. I think this is a mistake.

For that reason, I REALLY like guys like Casey, because they help me think outside my structured box. This article is excellent in that regard, and helps me adjust my perspective.

As an aside, if WWW.LEWROCKWELL.COM (or something like it) is not on your regular reading list, I am afraid you might be deliberately boxing yourself into an ideological corner. Not every article is golden, but it will give you a perspective that is way way way clearer than your average "propaganda wars" site.

For the record, anyone on a work machine probably should avoid this link. Has lots of scantily clad side advertisements. I have a hard time taking the material seriously when that's their ad revenue.

I am sorry. The article is posted on burning platform FROM Doug Casey's site and also from Lew Rockwell. I use Linux and have a bunch of ad blockers set up and just don't even realize when there are bunches of ads. I will try to be more discerning and post from sites with fewer ads. My bad, and I hope the link source won't kill your ability to profit from the article. It helped me.

Try this, as an alternative:

Unfortunately, even if you start the article on his website to read the entire article you must go to the one that you first linked.

What I gathered from the article was that money, ways to make money, and more money is the way to survive the next depression.

Work computer. Can't install anything

Call me what I am -- weird -- but the concept of having work computer without ad blocker makes me shudder. You sure you don't work at Target?

Target got hacked last year. So, it was my to comment on your company's choice of not running ad and possibly script blockers and possible outcome.
Of course I would agree about not using work computer to see the site regardless...

Ah, wasn't aware they got hacked. Thanks for connecting the dots

This coming economic depression will be worse than the 1930's simply because society it's self is completely different. Back in the 1930's people helped people out and now society is about what you can do for me and screw you in return. Sad state of affairs but that is the way people are now (not all but a majority).

I am bumping this thread. The Dow is highest since, well, forever. We know it won't last, and we don't know what the other side looks like. But I DO know that after the Dow hit 6,000 in November 1929, we had a depression. It has been up and down since then, and every time it hit a peak and went down, we had tough times.

My uneducated guess is the Dow's current heights are as much a reflection of very low interest rates and the fact that all the money has fled to the markets, since it earns nearly nothing anywhere else. It's falsely inflated, but due to those reasons more than anything else.

My $.02
