Hi guys!
My wife and I recently moved from NH to Raleigh (a few miles from Triangle Academy).
I have spend most of my time in the Off Topic area and I might have earned “the idiot from NH“ nickname! :)

Since my question is gun related and I need to get knowledgeable “opinions” I figure that this is a better place to ask about the best place to attend a concealed carry class for my wife and me. We both have NH concealed carry licenses and are comfortable with handling weapons. My wife, who is a “true 2A advocate”, carried concealed in NH most of the time, and shoots better than me, does not tolerate people that talk down to woman. We are both in our 70’s.

All that being said - we are looking for concealed class recommendations.
It doesn’t have to be next door but within a reasonable distance, not too expensive, and can be scheduled soon.

Do it ASAP … the Wake Sheriff (who thinks he’s king) has a huge backlog in appointments (somebody said it was like February or March for the first available appointment and that was a little while back) just turn turn in your paperwork much less the processing time to actually approve and issue the actual CHP Permit.
 
If you want a permit now and are dealing with a sheriff who would be more useful dead, an out of state permit might be the best option.

Looks like limited choices till Feb 2022.
 
What's not too far for you? It's different here in NC. You can dive for eight hours and still be in the same state. Not like NH where you can hit three states in 30 minutes...HAHA!
I'm pretty sure there's a couple places near me that are still doing every Saturday for the class. If you're interested in a 2 hour ride, I can look into it.

OK OK. You haven’t driven N or S in NH, VT, or ME but I get your point.

if you do the Seacoast from Ma to Me you can do 3 states it in 15 minutes…
anything thru RI takes 5 minutes or less…
you can spend all day getting thru CT - not because of the distance but due to traffic…

Fair question. Yes, completely different organizations.

It comes down to personal preference for the instructors, their focus / specialty areas, the available class schedule versus when you need to get going, your budget, amount of time it takes to complete the classroom and live fire test, facilities available for these, size of class and number of instructors, your goals ...

I've taken multiple classes provided by both organizations. We are all fortunate to have such high quality resources available to us locally in the area.

If you'll be living in Person later, then you may wish to become familiar with the True North range 'up thataway' (about a half hour from Roxboro) and Triangle Self Defense has an affiliation. I'd see about using an address for your Person property if that is possible, seeing as the Wake CHP issues are intractable.

And in about 5 hours you can be in Canada! I'm from Portsmouth....
