Cooling suppressor after a range day?

I sure wouldn’t do it. Especially if we’re talking centerfire rifle can that I just put 10+ rounds through.

Get some 1800° rated welding blankets if you can’t wait for stuff to cool down enough.

I’d just blow a can of compressed air down the barrel and wait.

I'd be scared of something cracking on the can. I keep a pair of welding gloves in my range bag to handle a hot can. It always seems to take a good 15 minutes or so for me to pack up and that's plenty enough time for a can to cool down.... at least for me. I don't do mag dumps or anything like that.

I just leave it on the bench/table for a short bit as Im packing everything else up (Im still by it, just putting gun into the case etc etc)
It doesnt take too long, honestly.
Also, as it's there, I just sort of shift it about a little. Letting hot areas rest against various parts of the carpet. In my mind, Im helping transfer the heat. Does it work? Who knows. I just know it's not long after I shoot (five minutes?) and Im putting it into the pouch it came in and I feel secure that it's not going to harm anything around it.

Me, I wouldnt do anything that would 'shock' the materials. May do nothing wrong at all, but Im not doing it.

Remove it and stand it vertical. If you have a slat-style table, center it over a gap and let physics take over.

I generally try to shoot centerfire first, then PCC, then rimfire…just to help.

There are many pouches out there that can handle the heat if you absolutely have to leave right after a mag dump.

Not the cheapest option, but I use a couple Armageddon Gear Hot Pockets and a Cole Tac high heat pouch that work great.

If you have time to cool but don't want to touch it to see if it's cool... there are finishes you can get

They also have "thermochromic" bands that can be slapped on that do similar

Just cook some bacon on it. ;)
Seriously, rapid cooling also leads to other problems. It can stress the connections between the baffle structure and outer tube, barrel and suppressor mount
and it can also lead to embrittlement of the materials themselves.
