I wonder how many more decades of unequal opportunity will be required to obtain equal opportunity?

It's a good thing I retired. I was barely able to control myself around the HR robots of 5 yrs ago, much less those of recent mutation.

It's not just DEI, I work for one.

Told me I'd be taken care of, authorized a schedule that did nothing.
Told me I'd be taken care of, then told my boss I make too much money.
Told me I was part of the problem that caused this, waiting for him to call me and ask to bail them out.

When I make more money it's bad for the company. When he needs his tail bailed out so he looks good it's good for the company. And both of those are the me doing the same work.

Game on, then. Because that phone call is coming soon.
 
So much I could say on this topic but can't.... The only reason I stay is roughly 8 weeks of PTO a year. Work from home since covid has probably saved me.
 
If there was real "equity" (which there should be), the employment process would be color blind (which it isn't).

You know what drives real equity? Acute shortage of critical skills.

The most diverse populations I've ever seen is in niche software skills that are in super high demand. Everyone is so focused on finding critical talent, nobody cares about/has time for absolutely anything else.
