Crazy Weather

@Burt Gummer my Silverado never spun at all, even though I went right down to the banks of the creek, on grass and saturated soil. Troublesome Creek is running purty high, about at the top of it's banks. It'll prolly overflow later today. I put truck in 4L and crept along, it acted like I was on a dry gravel road.

Lost power at 6:15 just moments after I started the coffee. Road is flooded and water was running across it to where I wasn’t going to try to cross it.

Freezing rain about to turn to snow
5 miles east of Asheboro

We lost power ~ 0330 or so; there were two short restarts, but power only back on ~ 0840. Crazy wind and rain with a number of squalls and some lightning & thunder maybe around 0600 or so.

Big tree down on Johnson Pond Rd near the American Legion blocking some inbound traffic , but a crew from the Quay was on it according to the wife.

Anybody needing help or shelter until power resumes around Catawba County PM me. I’m taking the day off to get another covid test for a surgery which is on Jan 10th. For caution I had 5 days before Christmas but it was not in the surgery requirement time period.

Big flakes now

Hard to see in the pic, trust me. Their big..

Got a little sporty in Stedman last night, but AFAIK, no trees down. Power went out around 5:15 for about 30 seconds.

My Aunt in Lewisville sent me this pic an hour ago.

I routinely go through the house and lock up right before bed... last night the wife was at the fridge so i told her to lock the side door beside her.

4:30 this morning i hear a loud bang. She had not done the deadbolt and the door was blown open into the side of the fridge.

Water all over my kitchen floor, big dent in the side of our fairly new fridge, and trash can blew over and spilled everywhere.

Welcome to 2022. Happy Monday morning everyone.

Had big flakes of snow that have tapered off to near nothing now. Power came back on, but it buzzed a moment ago.

edit, power on here, but my parents 2.5 miles away on the other side of town just lost theirs again.

Had some big wet flakes mixed in with the rain in north Lincoln County about 10;30am, lasted about 15 minutes. Lotsa wind. Thunder woke me up about 4;30am.

Been snowing hard for over an hour in Pittsboro. But, so far it isn't sticking. Everything is already too wet.

I'm afraid that tomorrow morning all of the roads will be frozen over and very treacherous...

Miss that truck. Her 4wd capabilities and pulling power surprised me a few times

The shingles on my roof are 25 years old. A few people have told me it's about time for a new roof, but I've been putting it off as long as possible... I got a couple quotes that were around $25k for a new roof...

This morning about 5am it was raining so hard we could hear it inside the house... And then it happened.

My roof started leaking in two spots...

The previous owner of our house added on a room, kind of a utility room, and we had a leak where it met the the house. I guess when it dries I am going to the roof to figure if it's the roof or issue with the gutter.

Our roof is 20 years old... I'd like to replace it later this year, in case we don't have as long a run as you!

Trip abandoned. Remembered my customer’s plant if closed today for New Year’s. Good thing it hit me before I drive there. That would have been dumb. Did make it to Jiffy Lube for an inspection. Heading out into the brutal arctic weather for some lunch now.
