I improved the rocky crossing on Toilsome Creek... previous owner left me three treads from a skid steer. One was broken, and I could only break one of the other two. Those thangs are Rugged!

Looks like you need a bridge. Once the sea levels rise that could be like the Mississippi. 😳
Get some used phone poles. ;)

Those thangs are Heavy! Toilsome creek may rise 4' or so, an' if'n the rains dislodge these treads, they won't go far.

I'ma gonna build a bridge, too, but not at the crossing where the treads are...

I'm curious, how'd you break the one?

.

Should be simple work if the current bridge is any example of your Engineering Prowess 🙋‍♀️

I built a bridge at our place a few years ago. And every time I drive the Gator over it I wonder if this is the time I go into the 4” of water. Keep me on my toes.

chicken! Man up! Do it right! lol

BS aside this is pretty cool. They spread out the load, smooth it out and should it ever silt in, just pick it up and place it back down. No impediment to the flow of the stream and those tracks are pretty heavy. I've seen a few uses as drags. It doesn't look like that creek gets a high volume of flow and if it did they're not going too far, drag them back into place.

In a big rain they will slide on down the branch. I have a 20 ft length of 4 ft diameter galvanized culvert, washed 75 yds down the branch around a bend. Fast water running down hill is amazing. Pulling the culvert out is going to be a real PITA

Pin them down w/ rebar.
...that won't bother the tyres on the Arctic Cat, will it? 😬

I was thinkin' of shackling a chain through the ends, and anchoring that on the upstream side, mebbe with rebar. A couple of 10' lengths of chain oughta be enough.

Trouble is, @Jeppo has all my chain!

Y'all are assuming that rebar can be hammered in... see all them rocks? I would need a machine to drive rebar into that ground!

Stop worryin' about the treads floatin' away, and give me some ideas about how to break that third one. My sawzall failed. Might try again with a brick under it. I've tried on the flat, and in the turn. The third one is in much better shape then the other two... kinda hard gnawin'!

If I can get three of 'em in the creek, and tie 'em all together, I'd bet they would stay put.

Ok…just have to ask. Why go to the trouble at all? That is a tiny crossing, you have a utv that would cross in 2wd with ease. Only thing I see happening here is you’re not getting your tires wet?

A hot machete will burn through it

Angle grinder with cutting disc. Just take your time. It can “burn” its way thru the rubber parts as needed.

I need to get my Zero Turn Mower across, so I can mow on the far side. There is no other way to get there. I have backed my trailer into the crossing until it stops against the rocks, then the ramp covers the distance, so I can unload the mower.

The Arctic Cat goes across without the treads, but the frame usually hits the one of the big rocks pretty hard.

I'll get the grinder out...

That is a unique and fairly awesome idea.

Mack. If you need help building a bridge give me a shout. You could drive a truck over the one i built over my creek.
...which is the very same Troublesome Creek!

I am collecting materials for a bridge, and will take you up on that offer! Thank you!

Get railroad ties to drive in the ground for your anchor posts.

I built one out of leftover cabin logs/beams. They are treated pine. I only walk or drive my Gator over them, but they’ve been good for a few years. I’ve got more up in W. Jeff if you want any. You just gotta haul them.

I'm thinkin' the bridge will be for the Zero Turn Mower and walkers... the crossing with the treads will be for everything else.

We‘ll figure out a good day and you can come check out my little bridge and the materials available.
