cubrock Colt SAA restoration project

Is the grip frame blued? It almost looks like a ruger grip frame where the anodizing has flaked off.

Yes, it is blued. This is a 1st Gen gun that had what I am pretty sure is a Christy’s barrel and cylinder put on it to convert it to 44 Special. Very commonly done in the 50s and 60s. The grip frame and trigger guard were buffed and reblued, probably at the same time. I like how it looks now, but after seeing @NiceOldDouble’s work on the other one, I thought it would be fun to dress this one up.

I does look good as is, old and carried. Once Bill works his magic, you may have a hard time pulling out if the safe. At least that is the way I feel about the SXS he did for me.

Maybe. Since the barrel and cylinder aren’t factory, I won’t feel so much guilt. Of course, if they were original factory, I wouldn’t have it restored!
