CZ457, I guess my build thread.

Try some Eley Match or Wolf Match (made by Eley), then try some Lapua Center X or SK Rifle Match made by Lapua. See what type of ammo your rifle prefers.

Also, try different torque settings on your action with the same ammo. Start at 20 inch pounds and then go up to 25, 30, 35 and see if your groups tighten up. My CZ likes around 30 lbs in the MTR stock.

Timney makes awesome triggers for the CZ’s if you’re not happy with the yo-Dave kit. Both my 455’s are Timney equipped now.

I have an old CZ455 Tacticool that is an absolute laser with CMP Standard or Geco Bolt Action Optimized ammo. Great rifles.

It was rather variably windy today and I am not a very experienced benchrester.
Temp about 62F, sunny.

CZ457, Boyds AT-ONE, 16" 'varmint' barrel, Timney @ 10 oz.
Protektor Model mechanical front rest, rear bag
Sightron 3-16x42, low Warne dovetail rings (no add-on rail)
Norma TAC-22

Target is the 1000 yard Mini-Palma bull, at 100 yards. X ring is 3/4"
15 rounds for score, in 17 minutes. I didn't take that long.

Next Mini-Palma match is November, so, I have time to practice.

Only issue with them is location. It is not in the USA. Shipping cost and time may be something to consider.

Fair point. Most of the reviews I checked out said they were reasonable with shipping. What they’re reasonable and my reasonable maybe two separate things lol. One thing I do like is they have the metal 10 round mags in stock. I’ve never seen them in stores or e-stores state side.

$40 for one polymer 10 round magazine and $25 to ship it.

These normally sell at most e-merchants in the US for $28 to $33 plus tax and shipping, when they are available.

I tried three different ones late last summer, when they were last available, and all three were defective.
They were returned for refund.

My suspicion is that CZ-USA ended up getting lots of these back and found that batch was all bad. Maybe they 'recalled' them.
In any case, it's a large pent up demand to be satisfied when they do show up again.

What issues were they causing? I’ve got 3 new ones that I haven’t got a chance to try.

Would not feed / allow me to chamber first rounds, and often all the others, without smashing them.

I have four 5-round mags that work perfectly.

I tried several 10 round mags borrowed from others which also worked perfectly, as did the 25 round.
So, it's not the rifle.

I have my email address on the 'waiting' list for these at seven different online vendors including the CZ parts website.

MK Machining makes CZ 457 mag extensions and at one time made a 14 round magazine. Area 419 lists them, but not in stock. They may want to crank out some, since they would probably sell out.

Had seen this:

blank info ... didn't know what they were ... maybe I will call them tomorrow if I get a free minute.

Yo Dave spring will get you a nice trigger for a small investment. If you want to get below 1 lb. Go to Optics Planet and get a Timney Trigger. It is 20% off right now. Very crisp and clean.

Timney is great. I dialed mine down to 10 oz. and that's as far as it really goes before it gets inconsistent.

I purposefully did NOT do the aftermarket spring trick, as I wanted to have the factory trigger 'stock' to be able to go back to that.
If you do the spring trick (and YoDave is not the only option) get the pin from Scar so the reassembly goes smoothly.
Plus it's the only things Scar is still offering for sale ;-)

I’ll just sell the YoDave I got since I ordered a Timney.

I guess now I need to figure out if I’m going to pillar bead the action in the stock or go after market with the MDT XRS. Which is where I’m leaning I think.

well ... if you decide that the 10 oz. is not low enough, keep the spring as it doesn't take a lot of room, wasn't super expensive, and it's good for trading too

this 457 has the same Sightron 4-16x42 that is on sale at Cameraland right now, at least I think it's the same one, with dovetail rings that are way low

At-One, no pillars, Area 419 bolt knob, 16" threaded ... kinda thinking I wish I had bigger glass and a 21" Lilja

I think I'd want the option to put the can on it - but I also note I haven't done that yet with this one, so, maybe.
Do I want to drop a half-grand more into this thing just for a barrel?

some guy on here recently listed, and then pulled, a threaded 18" Lilja for $480, I admit, did look at his ad a few times

Yeah, 18” is my favorite 22lr length. I’ve really got to sell off a few of my guns I don’t shoot and lost interest in. I’ve got too much sunk into the 22s. Lol. The tikka t1x has the KRG Bravo, SH4 Arken, and stuff. The CZ with Athlon Argos and Timney incoming. Then the 10/22 with Kidd barrel, Kidd Trigger, Victor Company Titan and SWFA SS 3-15

So, when the next rimfire challenge target is posted try them all out and see which one is best. I am routing for for CZ, but the Tikka will be very close at 50 yards. Ammo choice may be different for each. I have a Ruger Precision Rimfire build to exercise now that it's finished. Timney 2 stage trigger was pricey.

All 3 I have about the same in now, my Kidd prefers Eley Tennex, CZ likes SK best, and Tikka likes everything so far
