I've got one of these (see link) handguards on a 2017 Auto Ordinance (Kahr). I've got a Burris 2-7 long eye relief scope. I've got a Primary Arms red dot. I've got an Inforce WML.

I've set it up both ways, currently wears the dot but when set up with the scope the "scout rifle" is strangely satisfying. What would you do?

BTW, the stock replica irons suck and aren't an option.

Given that hanguards weren't designed as optical platforms, I'd first want to confirm that a magnified optic would hold zero well enough. You aren't going to be shooting very far with an M1 Carbine anyway, so IMO practicality leans toward the red dot.

But if the scout scope setup makes you happy then go for it! I've got a pistol scope on my 22/45 when a red dot would probably be more useful but I just like it that way. :)

I used one of those on a mini 30 with same Burris 2-7 scout scope. Was fun and the setup worked but the weight that far forward made it awkward. I went back to a red dot.

I keep moving back and forth between them. I can't see like I could back when I was a younger person, so the scope is neat for that. The red dot is pretty handy too for lower light, but my astigmatism blows the dot out on this unit so it's not entirely useful since it gets a little vague after 25 feet or so.
I've used this as one of my "not an AR" type house guns before I went to PCC guns using common magazines with my pistol in that role...so low light was an important consideration. But I do have that Inforce light on it now so the scope at 2x power should really be an option.

Get a low power prism scope like the 2x prism I'm selling to someone tomorrow.

Good call, I wonder if this would have enough eye relief?

I also have an astigmatism, it’s annoying.
