Deer on the Move

Friend clued me into this a few years ago since I wasnt a big hunter. When the sides of the road get littered with deer the rut is in and watch out driving cause the stupid is in full effect.

In Central NC it's pre-rut, which is usually the most movement of deer since last winter. The rain plus cooler winds and less light get them moving earlier in the evening = more dead deer. Also, muzzleloader season in Central NC coincides with the pre-rut kickoff of glorious buck movement.

I shot my ML yesterday in hopes of rolling smoke on a big'un on Saturday morning's opener.

I’m going to assume all these were hit and moved to the shoulder by motorist or state patrol. Hope we don’t roll up on a hit deer in the highway. This Prius is barely off the ground.

Going thru Missouri tomorrow and on to Kansas. Last year a week before Thanksgiving I saw a couple of monster deer in southern Missouri.

They're strewn around I-40 between Swannanowhere and Black Mountain right now too. Bear dogs done chased 'em all onto private property, wish they'd let me bow hunt on the greenway

Sometimes you really have to wonder why would anyone at any new organization spend a minute even typing up the headline that dumb.

It amazes me what people will spend their time doing without thinking "is this dumb?".

Final tally 28. Personally I have never seen this many deer hit and pulled onto the shoulder. I have only traveled this area a couple times at this time.

They're too busy for that.

No disrespect sir but you need to see these journalism people. I’ve known quite a few and they are those high school band people who most thought were special. Journalism died an ugly death in the late 1980’s replaced by outcast of society. I realize there are a few exceptions, but very few.

I’ll add I doubt you see many PETA people with children. They live for their pets. Less likely to marry. Voted most likely in high school to never get a prom date.
