I am by no means a tactical gunfighter special agent cool trained guy, but I have done enough training and competing to know that while some skills overlap, they arent the same thing.
Reminds me of something kinda funny. Years ago, my oldest brother and I got really heavily involved in Tae Kwon Do. We trained a few times a week pretty heavily. We also trained some in Aikido. So, there was this brief window in my past where I felt relatively confident in my "fighting skills". At the same time, my brother was also into dog rescue, and was friends with a guy in Georgia that raised some pretty exotic african Greyhounds called azawakhs. Turns out, this guy used to be a pretty well known ballet dancer and toured with the likes of Baryshnikov. So one day, my brother is down in Georgia and talking to this feller about our training and he asks my brother to show him some. Well, turns out, a BUNCH of the same kicks, punches, blocks and so forth are also shared with ballet. This guy could perfectly mimic almost everything my brother did...and from what Im told, even better.
I say all that to say this, many of the moves were the same, but the mindset behind the two are completely different. Both "arts" include grace, strength, and discipline, but only one concentrated on a defensive combative mindset. So while Tori may be an absolute queen on the competition circuit, the defensive mindset doesn't necessarily bleed over.
