I bought a Deltapoint Pro after using one on a friends pistol last 3 gun. I felt I had to can’t the gun forward a bit to get a dot picture. I’ve also been reading a bunch and watching videos and it seems they are not that durable. And I HATE the single button for brightness.

I’m thinking of taking it back. Has anyone had bad experiences with them and would you recommend an RMR or something else for 3 gun?

Thanks in advance!

Finding the dot may very well have been difference in your grip, or the pistol’s grip angle, rather than any issue with the DPP itself.

I like Romeo pro and Holosun that I have. You’re welcome to try them out.

Do you have any experience with the rmr or reasons it wouldn’t be good for 3 gun? I’m almost super sold just on the durability. I’m definitely going to return the DPP for the brightness button BS. One button just seems silly and poorly designed to me.

RMR is a great choice.
I’m leaning that way. It’s only 20 bucks more than the DPP. And it sits pretty low. The only downside to me is the battery being underneath. But I figure if I replace and re zero once a year I can live with that.

I'm poor I run a holosun. Don't have a Delta point, know a lot of people that did/do, they were the hotness before the SRO. People like the large window and good bright dots, durability of the battery contacts was an issue, supposedly fixed after everyone I know switched to the SRO. RMRs are fine but get less love in competition circles due to the small window. With any slide mounted dot most high volume shooters have two or three, one working, one spare, one back at the manufacturer.

Losing the dot out the top is common if you have a poor index, it's the not the optics fault.

Your input seems to be the norm (except RMRs being in the category of not working or at the manufacturer). I feel the slightly smaller window is something that can be trained through. Ol Lucas at trex arms pounds distance targets at high speed. I’m more concerned about it breaking. The warranty doesn’t cover broken glass.

So I have 2 DPPs, 3 RMRs, 2 holosun’s, and a sig Romeo 1 Pro. I am not a fan of the DPP at all for pretty much all the reasons you listed, except the having cant the gun, not sure why you need to do that. The only reason I have 2 is because a buddy who worked for Leupold gave me a “blem” model for free and I put one on my M18 since that’s what the Mil speced it for.

Honestly for a game gun, I would go Holosun, or the Sig Romeo 1 Pro over the RMR. Sure they’re durable, but so are holosun’s. The battery location is retarded, the window is pretty small, which isn’t a huge issue, but larger ones are nicer if you have the option.

Now if I had to pick one to take one to Afghanistan of some other hell hole, it would likely be a RMR, but for your purposes, save the money and get a better optic for the purpose.

I will actually never buy another Trijicon product again, until they get off their ass, and actually start innovating rather than just giving us the same product over and over. Not gonna hold my breath though because they are on .Gov contracts and could care less about the civilian market.

I like mine. I thought I really liked my G34, until I moved the DPP to a CZ and the dot is where it should be.
It helped I got it new for $300.

Good info here. I agree on the innovation. But the RMR cannot be beat in durability. The battery placement is doodoo. But you can leave it on full brightness for a year, replace and re zero. For a competition gun that isn’t a deterrent for me.

I wasn't referencing RMRs with the norm for competitors because very few run them. The small window "drawback" can mostly be trained thru. The big ones will be faster in those really jacked positions you'll find yourself in when you're not quite square with the gun, the holosun has pretty much the same limitation compared to the big window glass.

Eh, it’s definitely the most durable, but not by much and that gap is narrowing every year. Unless you’re planning on using it to hammer in nails and are gonna drop it off high buildings regularly I wouldn’t be too concerned. Take a look at Aaron Cowan’s white paper on SageDynamics.com ton of good data on there about optic reliability.

You definitely can’t leave it in full power for a year. You’d have a couple months at best.

I have a DPP 2 moa rds. On a g17. I rarely shoot it. I have holosuns on all my other pistols I can’t tell the difference

The big reason I went HS over Triji is the battery placement. I know a few guys running the DPP on M18s...it's a big optic. I probably wouldn't run one on anything other than a combat weapon.

I'm considering selling the HS 507C-X2 and moving to an ACRO, but I've hammered the CC into the dirt this month so I'm gonna chill out a bit.

Well I haven’t had one. But there are people online claiming one year on 6 or 7 out of eight, replacing once a year. It’s the internet, so there’s that. I don’t plan on leaving it on all the time as it will be a range/3 gun pistol. So I know a battery will last me a year.

Setting 4 of 8 is what gets you the longest. I just leave them all on and turn it up when I’m gonna go shoot. Setting 6 might give you a year, much longer if you’re not leaving them in constantly. I’d still prefer a larger window on a game gun, if you want Trijicon, check out the SRO, not gonna have the durability of RMR but Much more suited for gaming.

I’ve already chugged the koolaid. I’m determined to make it work! If not, I can repurpose it. Thanks for the advice. I will update with my experience

The good thing about the DPP is the lifetime warranty on it, no matter if you buy it new or used.
I don’t think that covers shattering the glass, for any optic warranty.

I've had 2 rmrs, 2 holosuns, and I've played with a buddies DPP a bit.

I'd 100% go for the holosun or the rmr for all the reasons already stated. Personally, I prefer the holosun over the rmr, but I keep the rmr on my daily carry gun because I know it's bomb proof.

I would go with the SRO for 3gun. It is great for that. Mine has been terrific.
Next choice would be Holosun. I have a 507K on a carbine and really like it. Holosuns have made reliable Chinese dots a reality. I am going to get another CO gun and it will have the Holosun for sure. Same footprint as SRO/RMR, which is nice.

Never cared for RMR's for gaming. Too small. Just my opinions.
