I got my new Dillon 650 from butter. While setting the Dies today, I ran into an issue setting the crimp. With the Dillon die none of my dummy rounds would pass a plunk test so I threw my Lee precision factory crimp die on and set it up the way I know how and everything seemed to look fine. Is there something special with the Dillon die that I am doing wrong? Is there any benefit to running the Dillon die versus the Lee factory crimp? Or should I just roll with what I have?

Post some highres pics of your dillon 9mm rounds without the FCD

The benefit of Dillon is the ease of removal to clean the inside.
Shoot me a text or call me if you need help setting up

Sorry that’s the best photo skill I have. I am far from a photographer

Gonna play around with it a little more. But I’ve pulled some of the ones with the fcd and see no marking on the projectile so I may end up running with it for a little bit until I get the Dillon where I want it.

Yes....... Not all of the expansion bell has been removed by the crimp die. Like said above, 9mm generally doesnt need to be crimped........ Just set the crimp die so that it removes the bell.

Think I got it.

Did as advised above only used a not yet belled, but sized case prior to a little more than 1/4 turn. Also left the case in the die while tightening lock ring. Had previously been tightening after raising handle. Not sure which helped most but I’ve ran several dummy rounds through and all pass plunk in my g19 and XDe Barrels. Think a hundo gauge is in my future. Lol

Thanks guys. I’ll likely be reaching out for more help as I get the hang of this new hardware!

You can fine tune this with a straight edge and a desk lamp. Hold the cartridge up next to the straight edge and look at the lamp. You dont want any flare out or dip in. The mouth should be straight as you can get it. The light will exaggerate any defect
