I can’t find it anywhere but curious as to the answer. What dies will work with a Dillon reloader? Will someone have to buy just Dillon dies. Seems like an expensive option if somebody wants to switch presses.

I think the Square Deal press uses Dillon dies. I think the rest of them use any brand of dies. I’m probably totally wrong of course

Exactly as said above. The square deal B takes specific dies. All others make use of standard dies.

Dillon sells conversion kits for a bunch of different chamberings but die sets for only a few. You must, therefore, use other brands of dies for those chamberings for which Dillon does not offer dies. Remember that Dillon handgun die sets do not include expander dies since Dillons use the powder drop tube to expand/bell the cases. That tube comes with the conversion kit along with the shell plate and pins. That means that the expander die in sets from other brands will not be used with a Dillon press.

I am familiar with the 550, so this may not apply to other Dillon models.

edit: I have RCBS dies on several Dillon heads.

you may find with Lee dies that you may have to put the lock ring under the tool head on the Lee sizer/deprime die as the threads are a little short

I use Lee dies on my 650 except for the powder drop/expander die and they work great. Locking rings on top. I did modify the original Dillon Seating die so it would seat soft HBWC without any damage to the head and use it to seat the swaged wc's. Still use the Lee factory crimp die

I even use the Lee powder-thru expander, and Auto-Drum powder measure, on my 550 toolhead for 223.
