I recently got my quietbore form 1 approved and completed. Yay, it's damn fun shooting my FN 509 with it. :D But, I've noticed that it starts "unscrewing" itself after just a few shots. Is there anything I should put on the threads to keep it there, while still allowing it to be unthreaded and taken off without a wrench?

Two suggestions.

1. Apply a little Teflon tape to the threads. Most everybody has a roll of that around.
2. Install it until it barely makes contact, ever so slightly loosen it, then snap your wrist to tight it against the shoulder.

Yellow tape is rated for gas and propane applications.
Right. Neither of which really apply here. I was wondering if it has some other property that caused it to work better in this situation.

Yes its a bit thicker so it seems to hold a bit better. Its rated for NG and Propane
the NG/propane won’t matter…

But I guess an extra wrap or two of the white ends up being about the same. Might grab some yellow next time, unless I find that partial roll from replacing a water heater years ago. 🙄

Yeah the gas doesn’t matter except that’s why it’s thicker. It seals the threads better and gives you a bit more tension on the suppressor.

Teflon tape never did much for me but thats probably because I was shooting a MAC10 with really course threads. Best results were running an o-ring between the barrel & can.

The yellow tape is more of a code thing than a performance thing. Blue Monster tape is thick and works with gases too so it covers everything if an inspector isn't involved.

Not a solution for your can, but my observation has been that RH centerfire pistol cans always work themselves loose. Not sure why. I’ve started to move to 13.5x1LH and sure enough the weird euro bugger doesn’t loosen during firing.

Two reasons.
1. LH threaded pistons usually have an o-ring, and often index off the muzzle instead of the shoulder.
2. Barrel rifling spins the opposite direction so the swirling gasses are tightening the silencer instead of loosening it with each shot.

unfortunately 13.5x1LH seems all but dead. I had to order directly from Glock to get some 13.5x1LH barrels. beretta unfortunately doesnt appear to offer them for the 92. I’m in the market for my P30 but don’t feel like dropping the $$. The suppressor body also cannot separate from mount as the piston threads are opposite. I’ve definitely become a 13.5x1LH fan and sure hope it gains in popularity.
