Less than 600 miles.

@Mike Overlay

So I noticed a vibration at 60 mph. Figure tires need to be rebalanced. No biggie.
Take the truck in this morning and get a voicemail a couple hours later that the tires are fine. They are taking it into the main shop to see what could be wrong.

Ideas??

Doesn't do it at 55 or 70. But 60 it vibrates. Whole front of the truck shakes.
Transmission? Yokes? Transfer case?

Sure hope I didn't get a lemon......

Dont go 60.

Vibration is caused by something rotating that is out of balance. At that small of a window, I bet it is either in the tire itself, or is simply out of balance. Wheel bearings or axles can cause vibrations, but generally at a wider range speeds.

Make sure that the 4wd is not engaged or the hubs are not manually locked (if it has it)

My '06 Jeep Wrangler had a dang vibration right around 45 - 50 mph that was so bad, it would seem like you were about to lose control. I grabbed a flashlight and started looking on the inside of the wheels where those stick on wheel weights were located. Sure enough, one of my front wheels had a bunch of the wheel weights missing. Took it in and had that wheel balanced again and the problem was gone.

Ford has already checked the balancing of the tires...ruled that out. THAT is why I'm a little worried!!

Kind of reminds me of when I had to replace a CV axle on my Escape now that I think about it....
But this is RWD with 4wd transfer case. Could the front axles act in the same manner?

I have heard of some frt diffs being replaced.
Did it smooth out if put in neutral?

Just looked at out cutomer, Standards Dist. fleet list. It was a 2016 f150. wit 4200 ish miles. Vibration felt above 45 mph. doesnt state if it went away.
Sent to dealer, dealer replaced frt diff assm

Ok...just want to be educated so if the dealer tries to screw me....I know what to look for to see if they have checked it.
I think Capital Ford of Wilmington is good...but you never know....

Both of your front halfshafts' CV joints are always turning since the halfshaft is directly splined into the hub. On the longer halfshaft, it is split in two and a collar slides over to lock the halfshaft back together when you put the truck into 4wd along with the transfer case doing it's thing. Your front open differential has some components always free spinning in 2wd. It comes under load when you put in 4wd. So yes, a bad front cv joint could be causing some vibration even in 2wd.

They couldn't duplicate but DID rebalance all the tires.
We'll see how it goes.
Anyone have any experience with Hankook tires. That's what's on her and I've never had that brand before.
Thanks for the replies guys.

My bet is driveshaft or the joints in the driveshaft.
Had a Pathfinder that had this same issue -was the Ujoint on the driveshaft...or something like that.
Shop changed it out in about an hour, didnt cost me too much. They showed me the old part and it was in really rough shape compared to the new one (they had another, similar one in the shop)

Have you checked the points?:D
Nah...I was low on blinker fluid.......who would have thunk it? Lol

Seriously though it's a lot better. Drove the same roads, no more shaking. I still feel a slight vibration at 60 in the steering wheel but I as the road surface changes..so does it. It comes and goes. The Mrs was riding with me and she thinks it the road surface. A combination of tires and road surface is what I believe it to be. The rebalancing the tires did something, cause trucks not shaking anymore.

Tks guys....will keep you posted

I do notice on my 15 F150 I "feel" the road a lot more than the previous two vehicles. Same roads around town, no new pavement changes. I was thinking it was the aluminum body and how light it is.

I just added 6 bags of topsoil (40lbs each) to the 80ish pound rubber rug in the back for the winter. Rides like a different truck.
