Anybody here have anything on order with Chris? Or made any recent purchases?

He got raided today by the ATF. They took his computer, cell phone, and all his inventory. 😡

No idea. I don’t have anything here that doesn’t have an approved Form 1. I did have two other aluminum tube kits but sold them at a gun show to nobody I knew.

ETA: matter of fact, I don’t have any of his kits anymore...they were all recored by ECCO

Fun how they have all these resources for raiding legal businesses and serving warrants but can't seem to get a stamp processed in 8 months.
Reading their own forms and the information supplied on them is hard.

Unlawfully doing whatever you want using taxpayer money is too f*cking easy for them.

Any idea why (justification) the raid?

Enemies Foreign and Domestic playing out right now...

Nothing legitimate. He just sells parts (tubes, threaded adapters, etc). I’ve been buying stuff from him for 6+ years.

That sucks........they made good form 1 components. I hope they stay in business.

if you try to go to his website, it now redirects to atf.gov and you get this page:

Except this happened 3-months ago.
Except I didn't say it was recent, did I? Note that I simply said it was another solvent trap hit job...

Also note that prior to my post in this thread, there was absolutely no mention of the words 'solvent trap' in it -- hence my mention of it, as some readers might not be aware that the ATF has been actively pursuing so-called 'solvent trap' manufacturers anywhere it feels it can demonstrate legitimate grounds for manufacturer intent to circumvent NFA-regulation of suppressors by those manufacturers. Such intent can be (and has been) demonstrated by the ATF using marketing materials, dimples on the hardware with specific design intent/purpose, etc.

I'm less than thrilled with Acting Director Regina Lombardo's vision for the BATFE, but I'll also say that the law is the law, and there is SCOTUS precedent (RE: firearms, even) in support of the concept that intentionally circumventing the NFA amounts to breaking/violating it. Frankly, though, the last 'solvent trap' was used in a gun crime when? A mass shooting when? If there's not a criminal basis for complaint, then all I see the ATF doing is turning otherwise-law-abiding people into criminals via such enforcement actions ... and that's troubling, as I'd like to see our tax dollars better spent on enforcement/prevention actions regarding actual crimes instead of theoretical ones.

Update from the guy on the Form 1 boards that set up a GoFundMe account for Chris:

Update, March 6, 2021:

I spoke with Chris today for the first time in 2021. Not a whole lot has changed, unfortunately. He has secured an attorney. They have filed legal forms to have his assets returned, but are being stonewalled. He’s not been charged with a crime. There’s no court date. ATF is not communicating with them at all.

Guys, it’s totally clear what is going on here. Same thing as what happened with Totality and Aegis. These jerks go in and take everything in hopes that you’ll just write it all off and move on. And you know what? Not many people want to fight the federal government in court, so that’s exactly what happens! Every time this happens, it becomes easier and more “normal” for it to happen again.

Chris tells me he is going to continue fighting this. Says he is going to fight it, even if it’s the last thing he ever does! He thoroughly enjoys, and is very passionate about what he did for the F1 community. He has continued doing other machine work to pay the bills, but nothing near what he was turning out prior to the raid.

One thing I wanted to determine was whether to keep the GFM going on his behalf, being unsure whether what I am doing is even the right thing. Chris assured me that every little bit helps, and he’s very thankful for what donations he has already received! I have not yet withdrawn any funds because he had no way of receiving them from me. He and I decided that sending a check directly to his attorney is the best course of action. So for those of you who have asked if there is a way to send funds directly to him without using GFM, yes there is. Message me and I’ll get you his attorney’s information.

For those of you who HAVE donated, THANK YOU! All donations will be sent in check form by me, to his attorney, and go towards his fight against the injustice against him and the F1 community.

Note: I’m not asking for donations, or posting a link to the GFM account...just wanted to share the update word for word.

I was typing a response to "Why not?" when BigWaylon's post showed up. I deleted my post.

I found the post that BigWaylon copy/pasted from and the GFM account in a few minutes. I did not use DuckDuckGo or a search engine, just made a guess on what Forum that the post may be located, found it, then went to GFM, and used their search for Diversified Machine to learn that only ten people have donated so far.

Anybody here gotten a letter from the ATF because they bought something from DM? Apparently they’re coming via FedEx. And people that bought just a tube and/or end caps & mounts are getting them…not just those that bought full kits.

I got my letter this week. I think i bought some spacers, fixtues and an end cap. I have approved form 1's for the 2 I made, they're engraved, so im really not too worried about this. There is a thread on arf about this.

@BigWaylon Not sure if you read Reddit or not, but on the NFA forum there are tons of members on there getting those letters. One posts I saw said that they bought similar parts as you did and they called the ATF. They were told if they used the parts on a Form 1 that you are fine. They requested that person to send copies of their Form 1 to them which I thought was kind of weird since they issue them. If you don't read Reddit, I will go see if I can dig up that post and send you a link.

Interesting that they don’t say that having owned it that then selling it is yet another felony. Can probably get out of it if you filed a form 1.

Don’t follow Reddit. That’s not my letter…got the pic from ARF where there are a couple threads. I haven’t received one.

Yes & no. Several people have reported they called their local office and said they had a Form 1 and gave them the serial number, and were told to ignore the letter at that point.

The problem comes in that if the ATF is claiming they’re silencers, they should’ve transferred on a Form 4…so a Form 1 wouldn’t do a thing.

Reality is this is one ATF person’s opinion. And they sent all the letters out. I’m also laughing at the fact they have his website incorrect.

So it's some kind of set up / sting op by someone?

I’m sure they’re just fishing for somebody to call them up and confess. I don’t plan on contacting anybody if I get one.

More fishing by the JBTs (a term that Wayne LaPierre got absolutely correct)

I guess it's so dangerous to prosecute *actual* criminals, that they have to go invent some new ones that they hope will self incriminate.
