Dixie Gun and Knife Show- May 6-7th Raleigh

Lots of folks there today. Got there about 9:30 and there was a short line to get in, left about 11:30 and there was a short line waiting to get in. Well attended.

Only thing I bought was a pair of BDU pants. Saw some primers for sale but still more than I'm willing to spend.

Lots of AR pistols with the foam covers. Still some people trying to sell arm braces.

I got there about the same time as JohnFreeman. I left at 12:30. Good show! I bought a pistol and a revolver for reasonable prices. I saw a wagon load of stuff I wanted. Everything has gone up, noticeably.

The wife asked me to pick up a couple of pairing knives. Like the aluminum handled ones of yore. I saw none of them at the show. It looked like at least one member of everybody's family, has gone into knife making. A brother of that knife maker went into Damascus knives. 😊

I spoke briefly to Steve at Catawba Collectibles. Spoke with the First Light folks.

Glad I went,
Larry

Wore my CFF hat, nobody noticed. I didn't see any either. Got there somewhere around 9:30, no idea what time we left. Saw the same older ripped dude with a Glock case in his hand.....He had a T-shirt on today with something "combative" and I'm trying to remember what it said. I see him at every show. The Tshirt vendor in the back right had some amazing art work. We bought a couple T-shirts and I picked up an "adapter"....

I'm half looking for a bolt action 22 with a threaded barrel. I didn't see anything that fit the bill.

Decent crowd, was pissed off at people by the time we left as usual. Folks need to step to the side when they want to chat.

Shoot, someone throw a Date, time and location out there. I'll make it if I can. The fact that I have never met @fieldgrade is an atrocity in itself.

I was there Saturday from about 11-1 and as others have said it seemed bigger and busier than it has recently, but it was still 1/3 non-gun-related stuff, aka, junk. It seem to me that most of the prices were closer to normal retail or a smidge below than usual.

I will say that I also encountered the pooches underfoot as well as a lot of loiterers (some with large backpacks) in the way, and people with kids, which is nice, except when they have strollers and are blocking a whole table while dad fondles a pistol. Guess I've joined the "old and cranky" club.
I'm with you there. Oversized backpacks and strollers are highly annoying. It's hard enough to move around without bumping someone. I too and old and cranky.

Got there around 11 and left at 1:30.
- if you need a sword, this might be the place.
-Looked at a Henry 357, but no side gate. $800 from a private seller seemed fair, but I’m holding out for a different configuration
-**** on the people with carts and blocking aisles.
- lot of ammo and components, but nothing that screamed “deal”
- found a Ruger Super Wrangler at Ed’s and bought it. Had to go and buy a box of Federal .22mag for it.

Still looking for a Ruger Security Six or Speed Six at a decent price.

Did anyone who went today notice if there was a decent selection of hunting / sporting shotguns? Last one I went to was a few years ago at this point and there were more Chinese pocket knifes than shotguns.

Went today (Saturday) around lunch time, lots of people but getting in was a breeze. Crowd definitely seemed larger than last show to me, maybe it was time of day thing though. Found some stuff I'm looking for but sometimes the prices don't make any sense. Don't mind waiting a couple days for shipping if it saves me a couple hundred bucks. That being said I did end up grabbing a 1911, some 9mm mak and a few spare mags for my B&T

Some small companies were nice. December tactical slings and belts were very reasonably priced and looked high quality I Grabbed one of those.

LOTS of oil catch cans for guns most I've ever seen at one point. Ammo seemed high and not really any steals on guns just accessories for the most part.

Pig gloves guy was great pricing and there was a poly 80 jig + lower for $80 but he was almost sold out by the time I made it to his booth late on Saturday. Another vender had them for $100 with jig. Both on the far right side of the building.

Big show and it was a good time to look through everything but don't expect a deal on a firearm and DO NOT buy a Benchmade from that show I saw quite a few fakes.

On my way to the show right now. I'll be the old guy with a Battery Oaks hat and an 870 Wingmaster slung over my shoulder. Say hello and or buy my shotgun.

If yall don't mind Get me a picture of the very overweight guy with a single folding 8' table selling Benchmade fakes please. He is on the left side of the show (pickle side) near the back maybe one column in.

They are around $90-$120 each.

Was there from 10:30 til 12, and it seemed bigger than it has been in the past, but with fewer people selling guns. As someone already mentioned, there were lots of bad knives to choose from. There was also a lot of non-gun stuff. The most interesting things I saw were a fair number of Tisas 1911s, which I'm going to do some research on, and a fair number of the new clones of Browning Hi-Powers, which looked and felt "interesting". Wore my hat and met no members, but did have a few discussions with people who had not heard of CFF and wanted to know more about it.

There were the usual number of oblivious people with large backpacks and/or bellies blocking entire aisles. Interesting though, there were a lot of polite 20 somethings who would apologize if they thought they were in the way. Seems like some parents have done well!

I was there starting around 1 or just after. I did not see this guy. Pickle guy is in the back left corner; moving along that side wall towards the front a few tables there was a single table folded up and leaned against the wall. If that's where the guy was, it seems he left early.

About the Tisas 1911s, you will not be disappointed, have two of them over the last two months. Well made. Turks need US dollars so they are building them as fast as they can without any quality issues.

Good show. We managed to make a quick trip over there this morning.

Prices were generally high as expected, but there was definitely some reasonable stuff. There was a good variety though and the place was filled out.

A gentleman had a P7M8 for sale for $3500. Too steep for me but nice to see them around.

I think I may have seen him at a show before, but there was a guy there with a bunch of old Walthers. Cool to see.

The single best thing I saw was a Hi Power Practical with a frame that appeared to be refinished in polished chrome - really odd considering the slide is black.. May call the shop that had it for sale if I can't stop thinking about it haha.

As a 20 something who does just that, it has my biggest pet peeve going to gun shows. Like how oblivious can you be to block a whole aisle and act like you have no idea what manners are.

Any luck with the shotgun sale today?

Does anyone know the name of the business that was selling the summer sausages and deli cheese at the back of the hall? My wife really likes the gouda I got from them, but I didn't think to remember the name.
