Dixie Gun and Knife Show- May 6-7th Raleigh

Couldn't find a semi-auto 20 gauge so I stopped at Bass Pro on the way home and bought the one I wanted there.
Hm. Kinda thinkin' about one, myself. Skeet only. A400 Xcel? or Xplor?

I have a flat of #8 shells I have been trying to sell and they have not moved, so I take that as an omen.
Call me motivated, whatever. There's a 28" Xplor, no KO, at Mr West's in Morrisville at a nice price.

If you care to share: What did you get and why did you get it?

Yeah, 9mm seemed to be priced well today (I'm sure because that's what the manufacturers have focused on delivering). I did see more primers than I've seen in a very long time, all insanely priced , but having them sit on the table is the first step. The bulk ammo sellers were there.

Does anyone actually buy scented candles at a gun show?

"No dogs" signs were up, yet there were at least two guys wandering around with them. One was labeled as a guide dog, yet the owner was ogling stuff on the tables. How's that work? Hard enough to walk around the place without having to avoid FooFoo. :-(

I miss Blue Collar Reloading.

I bought only the ticket.

I'd rather deal with the dogs than the group stopped chatting in the middle of the isle instead of stepping to the side at an intersection. Or the guy, face in his cell slap in the middle of the isle.

I saw a few dogs both walking around and at vendors.

I saw the dogs. No problem for me. I was there from 10 till 1:30. Enjoyed the show myself. I thought it was great. I bought 200 .38 Special cases. Why did I get back into reloading?

I saw some reasonable prices and a few un-mentionable. Even saw a Wrangler for $159. The one beside it was a bunch more. I interrupted @cubrock while he was doing some paperwork. I hope he forgives me. He is one busy fellow. Spent a few minutes with the First Light folks. Nice people. Went to Fuquay Gun & Gold and spent a few dollars. I even stopped by the First Light brick and mortar store, in LaGrange. I want a Taurus 605 Defender. A plain jane stainless model! All in all, a good day.

I was lucky enough to catch @cubrock during a lull and talked for a few. Thanked him for providing a lot of answers to questions here on the forum. Also spoke with @NiceOldDouble . Unfortunately he had sold all the brooms, but had some of his majical Fountain of Youth doublegun work on display. Very impressive.
Met a few other CFF'ers and all in all a grand day.

Went with the TriStar G2 Viper in camo (https://www.basspro.com/shop/en/tristar-sporting-viper-g2-camo-semi-auto-shotgun). Based on reviews, this Turkish manufacturer really believes in quality. https://www.gundogmag.com/editorial/tristar-viper-g2-shotgun-review/175387. I'm getting older so a 12 gauge is becoming a bit harsh to shoot

I was there Saturday from about 11-1 and as others have said it seemed bigger and busier than it has recently, but it was still 1/3 non-gun-related stuff, aka, junk. It seem to me that most of the prices were closer to normal retail or a smidge below than usual.

I will say that I also encountered the pooches underfoot as well as a lot of loiterers (some with large backpacks) in the way, and people with kids, which is nice, except when they have strollers and are blocking a whole table while dad fondles a pistol. Guess I've joined the "old and cranky" club.

This was my first time attending and unfortunately probably my last. If you wanted a cheap AR this was the show. Also had some good deals on 9mm at 25 cents a round. Other than that I didn’t find much or what I was looking for.

I don't think i saw you all.

I saw a Dobie with a vendor, a something Poo at another, a frenchie, and some lasa type dog.

Oh, saw a shepherd at a vendor as well. Passed out cold.

I really wish the Dixie gun and knife show would be in Charlotte again. I don’t want to drive to Raleigh just to go to a gun show. The Dixie show was always better than the C and E gun shows.

Maybe a stupid question but what do you do at a CFF table? Do yall sell anything? Do members bring guns to put on the table and sell? Do you pay for the table as a group?

Do you generally just talk and waste time? Lol

I first met @Button Pusher and @Jeppo at the CFF Table at the Dixie Show in Raleigh. I would describe it as a recruiting station for new members. We talk to folks about joining up. Also great way to meet FTF with members who are at the show. Networking and firearms BSing. Good times.

Blue Ridge Rd from Trinity to Hillsborough has been routed away from the fairgrounds.
You can only turn L onto Hillsborough (no traffic light) as DOT has removed Hillsborough Rd by Dorton Arena

Yep. Has cut down on a lot of traffic going by the fairground. We felt that last show.

Should be there Sat. Will be wearing the CFF shirt that looks like III

Looks like I'll miss this one. Weather has changed, so Rugby (on turf anyway) should be a go for Saturday. Not sure it would be worth it to drive 3 hours each way on Sunday to spend 3 hours at the show...

Bring grandpa's old model 12 Winchester. Looking to spend some social security that I've been sending for fifty plus years.

I may go on Sunday. Looking for an old 20 ga. SxS to refurbish this summer. I'll be the old fat guy with a gray beard wearing a gun branded hat.

Dang so you're setting up today? You'll be there Saturday and Sunday? I swear I saw you driving out of McDonald's this morning

Just a note…NC State graduation is tomorrow at PNC, so traffic will be worse than usual, esp. given the road changes.

Big show so far only a little of the way through. I'm walking around with a we like shooting shirt
