Do I need a 22lr?

But then I’d never again be able to say I’ve never shot one. 😝
Shoot mine. It's a clone so you'll be able to say you've never shot a 10/22, while having experienced a 10/22.

I’ve shot cas every month forever but have also started shooting a 2 gun .22 ZSA match this year. Having a good time but at 71 I’m not very competitive against those Marines from Lejuene but I try. Started out using a iron sighted Woodsman MT and a dedicated CMMG .22 AR with a Vortex red dot. Last shoot I used a Model 41 with a Burris FF. Was only 10 seconds out of 3rd but to be honest there were only 5 of us. Shot it clean except for a 10 second penalty for not getting into John Z’s ‘boat’. Everyone who shoots needs a couple .22s. These are 2 that I play with off my deck. A 1922M2 and a M52preA, neither is a collectable but they still shoot terrific.

No, you do not need a .22. I recommend that you don’t buy one. If by chance you do slip up and buy one, avoid SK and Lapua ammo at all costs.
(yes I do have an ulterior motive.😬)

My Mossberg .22LR carbine was handed to me when I was 11 years old. It wasn't long before I bagged a cottontail, killed a rattlesnake then a squirrel in my grandfather's pecan orchard. Before the winter, his orchard was squirrel free and my grandmother cooked a lot of squirrel stew. I have since given that ole Mossberg to my son; but, I have several more .22 rifles from .22 short to rifles that fire all three .22's. I also have a Colt Diamondback .22 and a SW .22 Victory target pistol because the .22 LR will always be the most ubiquitous ammo in my bullet cabinet. The 9mm being next, alongside my .223 and 7.62x39 ammo. They all have one thing in common. They are popular, therefore, plentiful which makes them relatively affordable compared to all the other rifle and pistol calibers out there. The only thing that keeps me from shooting every day is that even plinking .22's gets expensive if you run through 5 or 6 boxes every day. They used to cost pennies. not so nowadays. That said, no other caliber has given me so much shooting experience or fun than the venerable .22. I have many. The smallest is my Beretta 21A Bobcat which is my sometime backup EDC when I am not carrying its bigger brother, the .32 Tomcat. The .22LR is very efficient for most survival needs unless you wanna take elephants and rhinos. No other caliber will you use more IMHO, so HELL, YES!!!! Get one, then GET SOME!!!!

"Need" is very subjective, but I like to have a .22lr version of each type of firearm I have, both for cheaper fun and practice- I have a Tikka T1x for a bolt gun, a S&W M&P15-22 for semi auto rifle, a Ruger 22-45 Lite and Taurus TX-22 for semi auto handguns, a Henry Goldenboy for lever action, and a S&W 617 and Ruger Wrangler and I love them all!

Yes, everyone needs a .22lr firearm. The more the better!
They really are one of the most fun guns to shoot for everyone due to non-existent recoil, low noise, cheap ammo and numerous choices of firearms to choose from.

Just be warned, 22s are like pringles. Once you pop, you can't stop :)

Yep. I agree.

For example, it's MUCH more exciting to shoot paper if someone is holding the paper for you.

hold that pack of cigs up.... boom... "I told you it was off.... Now run....Hurry before you pass-out."
wouldn't mind trying the mini cannon out, Dillon Aero 134 is a blast.. sawing down trees more
fun than a Stihl Chain saw..
