Thanks!I adopted a border collie 7 years ago and she’s been a blast. She’s good with cats, doesn’t bark at the youngins. Chases the squirrels outta the yard, and raises hell at the Amazon driver and school bus. Shes a great watch dog and loves everyone. They’re also known to have a very large vocabulary
I wouldn’t have a herding dog (heeler) around grand kids. They will do their job and “herd” the kids. Including a nip on the leg here and there. At least that’s the experience I had with a blue heeler.Border collies. Australian cattle dogs, blue healers. They are all super smart but need a good bit of outdoor activity.
We had a border collie Blue heeler mix when our kids were growing up. She only tried to herd them when they were on their bicycles, lol.I wouldn’t have a herding dog (heeler) around grand kids. Heelers nip at anything. Most of them love the ups manI wouldn’t have a herding dog (heeler) around grand kids. They will do their job and “herd” the kids. Including a nip on the leg here and there. At least that’s the experience I had with a blue heeler.
I had the same experience with an Aussie. Smarter than a 5th grader and lots of personality, but he did NOT like it when the tiny humans ran amok. I'm raising a Golden-Doodle pup now and this little bumble is happy ALL the time about everything. Loves cats, loves other dogs, loves all humans, hates vacuum cleaners, and so far has not chewed anything to death that he wasn't supposed to.I wouldn’t have a herding dog (heeler) around grand kids. Looking to get a new dog.
Are male or female dogs smarter?
I agree with Tim we've had a number of border collies, great all around dogs but you need to be very selective with them. Blue healers are nippy some wil hurt not bad but enough to make a little one scream. Any dog you get you will have to make sure child knows does and don't with most any dog.I wouldn’t have a herding dog (heeler) around grand kids. They will do their job and “herd” the kids. Absolutely correct. We have one. Probably the best dog we have ever had. Fantastic and gentle with the grandkids. Sleeps in the room with them and is ever vigilant. I believe she thinks they are her own.Female labradoodle. It sounds like a dumb mix but they are some of the smartest and easiest to train dogs. Tend to be pretty chill.
