So I dry fire practice fairly regularly. When I practice with an auto, I load the mag with dummy rounds to simulate the feel of a loaded magazine. I have to slightly rack the slide with every rep to reset the trigger. If I rack it too far it chambers a round or begins to strip a round off the mag. I’m using a Glock or CZ, btw.

My question is, is there a way to make the slide skip over the top round and not chamber it when I reset? My issue here is that after one of my dummy rounds (they’re reloads minus primer and powder charge) is chambered so many times the bullet begins to set back.

If there is a workaround for this I’d love to know. Thanks!

To simulate mag changes in dry fire I use an empty mag in the firearm with the slide locked back and change to one of these DAA dry fire weight magazines and release the slide...

How about a plastic "slide by" dummy round on top of the other dummies?

EDIT:

What it is (for anyone unfamiliar):

How it fits; note bottom is shaped to fit follower, top is a trough that keeps follower (LRBHO) down but allows slide to sail over:

Here it is in an empty mag (sorry-pic blurrier than I realized); note slight angle/right side canted up a tad:

And here on top of other rounds; note ever-so-slightly increased tilt from bottom tab resting on round below:

I haven't tested it because my "other rounds" were live. I don't have any 9mm metal/regular weight dummy rounds at present.

I just take the spring and follower out of an extra mag and use that. Weight is off a bit but I have a single-stack so not as much as you double-stack folks.

I have a pack of those. Wonder if you could dump some coins, or projectiles, or something else between the base plate and follower (leaving the spring in place) to add weight instead of putting dummy rounds between follower and TRT?

Here are the TRT’s for anybody interested:

This looks promising, just not sure if the ones they offer for CZ will work in a P-10. They only list the -01 and Shadow.

This looks like a good option.

I have a set of these and they work great. I have not put any weight in the mag though.

??
remove follower and spring
drop rounds in magazine to get weight
seal off at top to prevent any movement of rounds (styrofoam) ??
