Screwed up something I shouldn't have, but in my defense this was the first time I'd done one since 41F or whatever.

This part of the form here is what tripped me up. Apparently I'm supposed to sign this, but when it was downloaded from the ATP site, it is blocked out.

I figured the electronic process was signature enough, but that's not the case. So, not exactly sure what to do about this but resubmit. Anyone run into this before? Do I need to photoshop my signature on there along with my responsible person on their form as well?

If a signature is required _and_ you're on OS X, then Preview has functionality where you can take a photo of your singature and put it quickly and easily into documents. I used this feature to accept my last job position through email.

I'm familiar with that but not sure why there's a literal block there on the form.

You have to start over once it’s been Disapproved.

Resubmit. Mail new FP cards with your new cover sheet.

It’s X’d out because you probably clicked a link to the form and it opened it a browser. If you open it in Adobe Reader there’s no X.

Supposed to fill it out, print it, sign it, scan it (or take a pic), and then upload it.

It has to do with the fact that I'm using a Mac and Preview instead of Adobe. Sigh. That figures. I'll try again using Adobe.

Any trick to getting the photo (I've got the photos for each form on my desktop) onto the eForm via Adobe? I know how to do it via Preview but not Adobe.
You don’t have to put the photo on the form. Just upload it in the RP section.

You can put it on the form using the custom stamp option. I’ve done that for paper submissions and print the photo directly onto the form.

As another option…

I have a document scanning app on my phone and iPad which allows me to use the camera to create a .pdf of the printed, signed pages. Requires you to print, but it works really well and is super easy.

Genius Scan works well if you don’t have an actual scanner.

@BigWaylon

that’s exactly the same one I have. It’s great! Simple to use, good quality and free.

Figured it out. In fact I figured out how to do it without having to scan anything. You use Adobe to fill out the form and also the stamp for your photo. Then you open it up in Preview and add a signature that you upload via the camera.

Sounds convoluted but you end up with a really pretty RPQ. Already resubmitted it.

Thanks for the help all!

yeah, clerical issues like that, they don't always make you start over if you're fast on your response.
I had a dealer put some wrong info on my application a few years back. It came back disapproved and I called RFN. They graced me the ability to send a corrected form and I wound up only waiting a month or so for approval.

This infuriates me (though I'm happy for you).

I submitted mine 12/15. Still nothing.

I've called three times. Each time all I'm told is it is "pending" and what date they received the fingerprint cards.
Form 1 or 4 ? Sounds like op was a form 1

Form 1 eForm SBR.

Hijack question....

When do you notify the CLEO? My intention is to wait for approval, send the CLEO notification, then make the item. I figured no sense in notification if it doesn't go through.
You notify CLEO at the same time you submit to the ATF. They’re supposed to notify the ATF if there any reason they know if you shouldn’t be approved.

That process doesn’t work if you wait until it’s approved.

ETA: the first part of the instruction to CLEO says “This form provides notification of the applicant’s intent to make and register a National Firearms Act (NFA) firearm.” While you don’t make it until after it’s approved, it’s registered when you do…so you’re still needing to notify the CLEO beforehand.

Maybe that is the holdup on my approval.

Thanks!
Highly doubt it. They have no idea if you’ve done it or not. The CLEO doesn’t have to give them a “go” in any way.

Most likely just in the background check black hole that happens to a lot of people.

Reactions: Me.
If you get disapproved do you have to send them another $200
To submit again? Yes.

But as mentioned above, you do get a refund on the first one.
