I had a vanity domain w/ Gmail on it from a side hustle a couple years ago, and it morphed into my main email. Gmail just decided to raise their price 20% with 2 days notice (only $1.20 but it’s the principle). Looking at their plans they were pushing a paid addition of Gemini, which got me thinking it’s time to move on.

Anyway, I’m not stuck on my old domain but wouldn’t mind not repointing all those emails. What’s a good platform, inexpensive but without being a privacy nightmare. I know there’s some experienced folks on here…

Not necessarily enough information to go on, but systems like Proton will host mail for your domain. I’ve been running my own mail server for almost 20 years but thinking of giving it up and switching to a hosted solution because even if you do all the right things, you get blocked and black listed.

You might wind up with difficulty with Google owning the domain that is the root of your email, but you might look into something like Proton hosting.

Should have clarified, I don’t use the domain for anything else anymore and other than some junk on Drive I can move easily enough I don’t use Google services. So I’m game to move everything away and just keep email but I do want a managed solution.

Option B a decent mail provider and I’ll start fresh but I do like ability for aliases for my kids to have very limited, monitorable email.

In which case, registering a domain and letting an email provider like Proton run the back end might be an option to consider.
