Entire Air Force Squadron's 'irresponsible' drinking lands them in hot water

Members of the 721st Aerial Port Squadron, which is based out of Ramstein, Germany, were told in a memo of the new policy, which says that "alcohol consumption outside of your dorm or residence is prohibited" between the hours of midnight and 6 a.m. and also "within eight hours of any shift."
This doesn't sound too restrictive to me. More like no public drinking between midnight and 6am and don't show up for work drunk or hung over.

Sounds like common sense to me, now (as a 41yo adult). But, I would have botched and moaned about it when I was 22yo on active duty. Hahaha!

lmfao

so story time

we were having some bs emergency drill out in the bomb dump and part of that was treating medical emergencies. one of the scenarios was someone was a burn victim (nobody likes this crap), which was obvious when the response to "how are you going to treat this" was "piss on him"

welllllllll, just so happened the full bird was right there and overheard, and was pissed.

he comes marching out of the gate (where everyone had evac'd to and was standing around, bs'ing, smoking, etc) and nobody in the group saw him/called the group to attention. now he's super pissed

sooooo, the group cc came out, we're all in formation getting our @$$es chewed out, we're not military enough, blah blah blah

goooood times

What’s with these kids these days? When we used to get hammered outside the barracks at 4AM it was never irresponsibly.

Also, why the civilians in the formation? This is arguably one of the limpest shows of force ever, even for the Air Force…IMG_8158.jpeg

the last time i got hammered outside the barracks at 4am...i dont remember how it ended, but it started with a lot of soju

Irony here is that officers are required meat a minimum time at and spending in the Officers Club. Hard to reach the spending minimum of one isn't a drunk. 😄😄😄😄😄
I did a rotation on Officers club clean up. That place was a effing mess on Monday morning.

Soju, remember it well, no thanks.

I recall coming back from Graf, part of the unit by train and the other part by truck.

Must be a Coastie thang. I had many nights, especially weekends, drinking till the wee hours of the morning. We might have even had to sneak back on base after the midnight base lock downs during desert storm.

You may have misunderstood my comment... When I was on active duty, all we did was drink. There were some nights that we went straight from the bar to formation. I would have been pissed if they instituted rules like this while I was a young, dumb, enlisted man.

But, now, as an adult, I think it sounds like a good idea to keep the young folks out of trouble. 😉

Yeah, but those were great times and we learned a lot wandering into formation and working hard to stay upright. I'm would rather see a no marrying strippers order instead of this. That would keep way more kids out of trouble. 🤣

Coming in mostly hammered around 0500; sh1t, shower, shave; clean uniform before formation at 0530. Grab chow after formation before class at 0610... lots of coffee to wash it down. Lol a few times.....

Back in '04, I/we were in Germany to train with their PSYOP bubbas & bopped down to K-Town one weekend to meet up with a bud in the USAF. We went downtown for some grub & some drinky-drinks & it was overrun with drunk American GIs, swearing loudly & just generally being loud, ugly Americans. Chris & I had both gone native in our time there & immediately switched to German, got off the main drag & found a little, locals pub to hang.

Dunno what the USA/USAF mix of those jackasses was, but no way either one of us wanted to be associated with those assclowns. Not being a prude, but loudly showing your ass & being disrespectful isn't something I want to be a part of or associated with.

I assure you when we got hammered at 0400 it was ALWAYS irresponsibly.

Yep. And many times a 0500 run in which most of the unit was puking while running.

We were required to join the officer's mess (or club, when I was in a shore billet). Yeah, it was expensive, and I never got out of it what I put into it. It was a fine line: they expected you to be social (but never pressured to drink, but almost all of us did), but it was totally frowned upon to be drunk.
