Federal Premium Release Their New Hydra-Shok Ammunition

I'm sticking with the 230 gr., ten megaton, Gold Dot JHPs currently loaded in my carry.

As a side note...I'm looking at the pic in the link from the OP and it seems to me that Federal didn't do a good job of picking out a good cross-sectional picture of their new bullet.

The lead doesn't look "balanced" in the cutaway pic of their bullet. Notice how it sticks up noticeably higher on the left side of the pic? I wonder if that's typical and how it affects accuracy?

The engineer in me looks at that and reverse-engineers their production methodology. I'm guessing the jacket is cleaned/fluxed, raised to a pre-determined temperature to assist in lead bonding to the jacket when molten lead is poured in. Then the "cone" is formed by a die stamp as the lead cools. Afterwards, the upper portion of the jacket is crimped with its own die.

I wonder how it actually performs, stacked up against other JHP of similar mass/velocity? I can't find anything on youtube (yet) with this new Hydra-Shock Deep ammunition.

That is a terrible cross section pic...one would think it get some real wobble at longer distances due to that difference. I know it's SD ammo so it's not really meant to shoot longer distances and likely wouldn't matter at "moment of human" accuracy needed at SD distances...but still!

I’ll just stick to HSTs, Gold Dots, and Critical Defense/duty.

But I just replaced all of my SD bullets with critical Defense :(
But I just ordered 100rnds of this. Can I get my money back?

I heard they're going to offer a voluntary upgrade. Just wait for an email telling you to send them back for rework. ;)

Lol Hydra Shok DEEP.

Who comes up with this stuff

Same people who come with the stupid acronyms for product names that try to imply if you use it your penis will become 2in longer and will emit pheromones that will bring all hot girls within a statute mile of your present location. The US military is guilty of that, maybe even being the trendsetter.

Guess I’m to dumb but I still think about about good hollow point round will donthe job as long as the person sending it addresses it to to right place. Now if they come up with a super duper self guided round that hits the OFF SWITCH every time a person sends one I’ll buy it then but for now my Gold Dots or HSTs or even old style Hydra Shoks will do me just fine.
