Happy to be here.
I didn't start hunting until just a few years ago. Each year I've gotten progressively closer to killing one, including missing a spike with my bow last year and missing a buck with my muzzleloader this year. Today though, I did not miss. Doe stepped out this evening at 75 yards and I popped her. DRT. As I started toward her, a fawn stepped jumped away, but I had a shot. If I had it over again, I probably wouldn't have taken the shot, but I shot the fawn too. Didn't kill it immediately, and I rushed a second shot which took the guts and moved them outside. Wasn't able to salvage much from it at all.
Still, it's an exciting day as I've now got the first venison I've ever been responsible for icing down.
