I’ve been dancing around with getting a can for a long time now and while I was browsing Hansohn Brothers website today, I noticed they had one YHM Resonator K in stock. I remember @BigWaylon posting about these when they came out so I figured I had better snatch one up. Hopefully next weekend I can get done there with my trust and get the actual process started.

First can ever? Congrats!

I’ve talked to Chris several times. Wish I had a chance to meet him (and I think his dad works at the shop?) sometime. He also has Ti direct thread adapters if you need one.

I’m a complete noob when it comes to cans. My plan is to use the same type mount on all my 5.56 guns, .300aac, and 6.5 Grendel and just swap the can back and forth.

I called the shop before placing the order and the guys did seem really cool. I’m hoping they will be able to walk me through the paperwork process as I’ve never done it before. They’re about an hr down the road from me, so I’ll just drive down next chance I get.

Good way to go! I do the same using a Griffin Plan A and Taper mounts. It’s great to see so many new cans with the universal base threading. Good choice on the ResK too, haven’t shot mine a ton yet but I like it.

I. Just this week picked up 2 suppressors. Only took 4 months for ATF to approve. I couldn’t believe the turnaround, I had heard that SBR’s were coming back as soon as 17 days, but was elated to get my cans out of prison after only 4 months. Good luck Derek!!! Get the approval before Biden and O’Rourke pull the plug!!!

Glad to here it’s a good can. I was going to go with a Dead Air Sandman, but at the price point and good reviews I’ve read on the Resonator, it was hard to pass up when they got it in stock.

That’s great news! Hopefully mine comes back as quickly.

I got bad news for you man... resonator k is only pretty good for some of the things you mentioned.
but you're gonna want a new can for 5.56 soon. YHM makes some great things in the phantom/turbo lines. and since 6.5 is smaller than 7.62, you're probably going to want to invest in a multipurpose can where you can swap endcaps.

And even when you do get a multipurpose, you're going to want something shorter/lighter for pistols soon.
and let's not even talk about those 22 guns you have, because there's zero sense in hanging a 12oz can off the front when a 3.5oz is all you need...

I think i currently have only 4 cans with 3 more sitting at the ffl...

Swapping end caps is waaaaayyyyy overrated on a rifle can.

I even metered some of mine at Rugged and it got louder with a smaller bore end cap.

Plus, there’s always the “oh crap” concern of not remembering to swap back.

Man if mine comes back that soon I’ll be elated. My stamp got cashed by atf on 12-31 so we’ll see.

I finally did the same last week but bought 3. Ended up buying a dead air mask, dead air nomad 30 kit and a Rex mg7. Seriously thinking about going ahead and submitting for a couple more.

I’ll be pulling the trigger once I log into my laptop in the morning. Gotta pump those numbers up and replace the stamp I lost selling a can.

I’m waiting patiently for a YHM R9. If that doesn’t come into stock soon, I’m going to end up spending that cash on another Form 1 stamp instead....

One of those is not a substitute for the other. Maybe do both...but if you want an R9, you don’t want a Form 1 lower instead.

I just ordered a SiCo Octane and a Saker, and a Gemtech Trek.....

And we wait.....

@BigWaylon

I really want a R9 as my first priority. If I miss them or get impatient, I may build a R9 equivalent under a F1.

I’ll probably go with the R9 though...

I know I’ll stamp another lower at some point too.

While I was waiting for the R9, I bought a Rex MG7 .358. If you haven’t checked them out, you should. Larger volume can, can still handle super sonic rifle and 9mm, about 3/4” longer than the R9, same universal threads, and similar price.

Unfortunately my R9 was delayed 2mo since the SS dealer sat on the paperwork and I didn’t realize it.

Yeah, definitely a good (maybe better?) option...

I think he was looking for something through SS.

@BigWaylon nailed it with his SS comment. I have a few local SS dealers and already in their system. I did look at the Rex cans and they look solid, but also showing OOS most places.

Seems like they’re avail when I’m broke and no where to be found when a motivated buyer. My luck is that I’ll get the back in stock email only to have my internet crash until they’re sold out again... lol. Oh my luck...

They are in stock at SilencerShop as of right now.

Where do you see that? Shows OOS for me.
They’re already gone. I checked when he posted that and I did see them IS...but soon went OOS.

Damnit. I want one of those too. I am going down to Hansohn on Wednesday and I would like to start the process on a 9mm can at the same time but they don’t have the R9 in stock.

they have this one and the full size version. I’m not familiar with them. Are they worth it, or should I hold out for the R9 or something else?

That’s a nice can. I wouldn’t hesitate to buy a CGS silencer, or an MG7K 358 (currently OOS).

Ask them about the R9. They might have some in route. YHM just sent out a large order, and I’d hope not all of them went to SS.

Would you take the CGS over the R9? My plan for that one would be to primarily use it on my AK-V.

If they were both available? Yes. Because the CGS is user-serviceable. The R9 and MG7K are not.

But if I wanted a can for an AK-V and all they had was the R9 or MG7K, I wouldn’t necessarily hold out for the Mod9.

I had one in my shopping cart, then got distracted thinking it through. a work call and 15 mins later, they were gone.

Im debating a similar F1 build now... Parts are out there and I’ll get the chance to build something (which I love doing!)

Probably dumb question, but I assume user serviceable means I can take the baffles out to clean them myself and the others I can not?

Correct. The R9 and MG7K are fully welded stacks.

Some welded cans have removable ends, some don’t.

@Derek8404

Pay attention to paco’s reply...he’s the one making them. :D

@BigWaylon So if you were to get a CGS Mod 9 and only had one for 9mm, would you get the standard length or SK?

That’s the question I was hoping you wouldn’t ask. 🤣

Same price. Roughly a little over 3oz and a little less than 3” difference.

Gotta decide if you prefer smaller size and lighter weight or a little more suppression. Dedicating it to an AK-V, I’d probably go SK.

Decisions, decisions.....

The SK would probably be more aesthetics pleasing on the Ak-V and I would like it to be as short as possible.

Wolf, Wolfman, Ghost, Odessa, Obsidian...and others like them. The ones that you can run short or long (or anywhere in between with the Odessa).

I don’t have any modular (in length) cans, but there are several on the market.
