So, I'm always misplacing my Hoppe's cleaning kit and it's bag. I never much cared for it to begin with, it's a bit cheap, and flimsy. Anyways, this kind of inspired me to do two things: First, to get myself a sturdier, more durable bag; second, to get one I liked enough that I'd make a point not to leave it laying in random places. It's a coping mechanism of sorts for my lack of spacial memory in some situations.

Anyways, I've been working on it slowly over a few weeks, and it's at least functional. Apologies for both the dismal lighting, and my poor photography skills.

Current contents.

So far, it consists of:

1) Cleaning rod and various attachments.
2) Solvent
3) Needle tip oil bottle.
4) Froglube CLP
5) Cleaning Patches - Various
6) .45 ACP Boresnake
7) Copper and Brass brush.
8) Leatherman Wave Multitool
9) Plastic hook tool.

I plan to add:
1) Pipe Cleaners (Once I find where I put mine)
2) A folding work mat (if such a thing exists)
3) More brass brushes, probably in an altoids tin.

Anyways, it was just a project of mine to get my cleaning supplies back in order, and put into a very portable package. Do any of you have any suggestions of things to add, or some nice, compact bottles or accessories? Any help or tips is appreciated!

I'd add a couple small tools like a GLOCK punch, small flathead screwdriver, AR firing pin, etc. Also, I'd ditch the frog lube and get a good petrol based CLP instead. Other than that it looks legit.

What are these cleaning kits y'all speak of used for?

I would probably add another small ziploc with qtips but looks like a solid kit from here. Nice work.

95+% of my cleaning is done with q tips and CLP Of the remaining 5%, the majority of that is done with paper towel and CLP.

Bore is done with a snake.

Glocks are flawless when not cleaned

I keep a small OTIS kit in my bag.

I think these three things are some of the most used tools in my cleaning kit. AR pin is almost like a MacGyver tool

If all you want to do is clean and lube you're good to go. It you want a "maintenance" kit for range use you are missing:
6" length of 1/4" brass rod (squib rod)
Streamlight stylus LED
Glock front sight tool
mini jeweler's/watchmaker's loupe

I'm assuming your multi-tool has a punch and screwdrivers on it and can double as a hammer for whacking the squib rod.

I usually use pipe cleaners in place of Q-tips. Mostly because the Q-tips seem to leave more fluff around. I bend them in half and use the end like I used to use Q-tips!

That's on the plan, but I haven't found a small bottle of CLP yet. Any suggestions would make me very happy!

That's the gist of it, for the multitool! That being said, the squib rod is a good call out. I hadn't even thought about that yet!

Hey, thanks for all the suggestions, guys! I'm having trouble finding things that are small but fit the criteria, so if you think of any manufacturers, or resueable bottles, ect, shoot them my way!

I carry WeaponShield CLP in a refillable oiler pen. Good oil goes a long way.

I buy these a dozen or so at a time. Can usually find them for a couple bucks each if you google around. I keep them in my stocks, bags, cases, etc.

Yeah, I have a multi tool in my kit too, but it never gets used on my guns it seems. Just not much on there that's handy. I have a small selection of hex/torx wrenches, a tiny flathead, GLOCK tools stashed everywhere, and AR firing pins. Glock tools and AR pins are amazingly handy tools for all sorts of things.

1911tuner taught me the value of a spare firing pin many years ago and I've carried spares around ever since...

My kit is more repair than cleaning for field use anyhow. Never needed to do much in the way of cleaning... I wipe off my bolt and occasionally snake the barrel on the AR, and the GLOCKs get cleaned... well sometimes they get cleaned... I'm pretty sure I've done it before...

You sir, are a gentleman, and a scholar. Remind me to buy you a beer if I ever happen to run into you.
No problem. I was given one a long time ago and it was a game changer for me... Buy a quart of oil for filling and using at the house and it will last you a lifetime...

I tend to do an OCD cleaning session if I know I won't be using a particular firearm for a few months, which on my schedule, happens somewhat often. That being said, the extra firing pin is actually a pretty good idea. I had a few Glock tools, but they seem to have vanished (unsurprisingly). The multitool was an inherited extra, so I thought it might be nice to have it just in case. Since it was just laying around otherwise.

This is what it is. GLOCK punch, flat head, brush, and front sight tool...

I have a little tool kit I put together in my range bag, it is also in a Maxpedition bag. Every single man who has ever seen it.....wants it.

Ill try and get a photo or two.

I would add a cordless Dremel with a grinding bit and buffing wheel. Never know when you may need to polish the feed ramp on your 1911 at the range.:)

Good thread. Interested to see what the final outcome looks like. Final being relatively speaking of course.

My attempt at humor...

I've started taking all of the extra allen and torx keys that come with the parts I order and sticking them in my bag. I'm sure there are duplicates, but they are easily lost.

If it's any consolation, for once, I got it. I was just being deadpan.

Dave does have a very solid setup. I'm constantly borrowing stuff out of it at the range...

I have a sandwich bag full of them.

Anyone ever feel like donating... you know where I post.

Added the weapon shield and an oil pen. Love both of them, seem to perform pretty solidly. Though, I'd like to test the weaponshield without any oil. Not that it's really a test with mostly Glocks and revolvers....
