It’s a young tree, probably not more than 10-12ish years old. We planted it and then about 2 years later built a building a bit too close to it without thinking, so yeah.

Always heard some folks like it for smoking up meat and figured it’d be more use for that instead of just rotting away.

Dunno if the old man would wanna put it in our fireplace, he’s particular about it cuz of creosote ya know. Neither of us know if pecan makes it bad like pine.

Pecan is some hot burning stuff and burns clean

My log splitter runs on anger, water and meat and makes it’s operator leak plenty of fluid

Looks like there’s also a healthy dose of electrical tape, a sign of a great machine

Actually some of that rubberized handle wrap tape that sticks to itself, seems to do pretty well as a cheap overstrike guard

nope but that was all split by the Fiskars 36". there's a splitter just to the left for locust and white oak as i'd just go cold rather than hand split those

Not much at all really, good classic Kelly works profile that makes reasonably sized wood go quick

4 guys from the local Lions Club came to the house this morning, cut up and split the shagbark hickory tree that split off in a storm back in May. They filled up a 6x12 trailer pretty quickly. They are having their semi-annual BBQ 2 weeks from today and smoke the meat with hickory.
